Recently, Chongqing Education Commission released the list of candidates of Bayu Scholar distinguished professors of 2016. Professor Du Chunlan from the Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning of Chongqing University and Researcher Chen Shijian from the College of Physics are among the list.
The “Bayu Scholar Distinguished Professor Post System for Colleges and Universities” is a key talent program initiated by Chongqing Education Commission as part of implementation of the Outline of Medium and Long-term Urban and Rural Education Reform and Development Planning of Chongqing Municipality (2010 to 2020). It aims to attract and select domestic and foreign young outstanding talents, cultivate a number of internationally and domestically advanced academic leaders, improve the academic status and competitive strength of colleges and university of Chongqing and expedite construction of the science and technology education center in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River.

Du Chunlan, a professor from the Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning of Chongqing University, a doctorial supervisor, the first-class academic leader of landscape architecture; a member of the Discipline Review Group of the State Council; managing director of the Chinese Society of Landscape Architecture; vice chairman of Chinese Society of Landscape Architecture; a commissioner of National Special Direction Committee of Landscape Architecture; and a commissioner of the National Education Direction Committee for Masters of Landscape Architecture; awards and honors: national second prize in recognition of outstanding teaching outcomes once; first prize in recognition of outstanding teaching outcomes of Chongqing three times; first prize of outstanding planning and design of Chongqing five times; second prize of outstanding architecture design awarded by the Ministry of Education once; number of academic papers published: more than 60
Chen Shijian, a researcher specially appointed under the Hundred-talent Program of the College of Physics, a doctorial supervisor, mainly engaged in research of physical nature of semiconductor film and functional nano material, as well as research of photoelectrocatalysis new energy technology and magnetic semiconductor materials; Chen has published more than 50 SCI papers on famous journals including Adv. Mater., JACS, and APL as the first author or the corresponding author, and those papers have been recited for more than 1,000 times. Researcher Chen has acted as the director of several programs, including the Australian Foundation, Alexander von Humboldt Foundation and National Natural Science Foundation of China. He has won the first prize for natural science under science and technology awards for colleges and universities (ranking the 3rd place) and the second prize of the national award for natural science (ranking the 5th place).
