Zhang Zongyi appointed as CQU president

On January 3, the Organizing Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China announces the appointment and dismissal decision made by the State Council and the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. Zhang Zongyi is appointed as the president of Chongqing University (the vice minister level) and Zhou Xuhong no longer acts as the president of CQU. Wu Daohuai, a member of the CPC Group of Ministry of Education, Hu Wenrong, a standing member of CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee and head of the Organization Department, and Liu Housheng, a counsel and deputy director general of No. 3 Cadre Bureau of the Organizing Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, attend the meeting and deliver speech.

 

Zhang Zongyi, male, born in May 1964, a CPC member, started working in February 1988. Professor Zhang obtained his doctor’s degree in economics from the University of Portsmouth and the doctor’s degree in power system and automation from Chongqing University. He served as the president of Southwestern University of Finance and Economics from April 2012 to April 2017 and has been serving as the managing deputy secretary of CPC Chongqing University Committee since April 2017 (general department head level).
