On the morning of January 6, 2018, the donation and inauguration ceremony of Hendry Fok Sports Center of Chongqing University is held at Huxi Campus. The Henry Fok Foundation of Macau donates 30 million yuan to build the Sports  Center.

The delegation led by Ian Fok, chairman of Henry Fok Foundation, Liu Jin, director of the Office of Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan Affairs of the Ministry of Education, Chen Shujin, acting director of the Liaison Office of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in Chongqing, Shi Quanbo, deputy head of the United Front Work Department of Chongqing Municipal CPC Committee, Zhang Yaqian, deputy director of Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of Chongqing Municipal People's Government, Zhou Hongling, deputy head of Shapingba District, Zhou Xun, secretary of CPC Chongqing University Committee, President Zhang Zongyi, Ou Keping, former secretary of Chongqing University CPC Committee, honorary president of Education Development Foundation, Meng Weidong, vice president of CQU and president of Education Development Foundation, staff members of Hendry Fok Foundation, and representatives of related departments of CQU and teachers and students are all present at the ceremony. Yang Dan, managing vice president of CQU, presides over the ceremony.

Zhang Zongyi extends his sincere gratitude to Henry Fok Foundation for its contribution made to construction of the Henry Fok Sports Center of Chongqing University, on behalf of all teachers, students and administrative staff members of the University. In July 1991, Mr. Henry Fok and his family came to Chongqing and visited Chongqing University, and he placed great hopes on development of this University. Henry Fok officially announced his decision to build a modern stadium at Chongqing  University. Now, Henry Fok Foundation is donating to build the Sports Center as a way to fulfill the long-cherished wish of Henry Fok before his death. Chongqing University and Henry Fok Foundation will seize this opportunity to further communication and exchange and enhance understanding and friendship between the two, and will make unremitted efforts to facilitate business development of the two.

Liu Jin, director of the Office of Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan Affairs of the Ministry of Education pointed out that education comes first for a long-range program. In 1986, Mr. Henry Fok donated to establish the Henry Fok Education Foundation. The Foundation has set up Young College and University Teacher Fund and Young Teacher Fund to foster outstanding young people and reward talented persons. By now, Henry Fok Education Foundation has provided subsidy and award for more than 300 colleges and universities and nearly 4,000 young teachers in China . The donation made by Henry Fok Foundation to build the Sports Center at Chongqing University is another important move as part of the support granted by Henry Fok Foundation to development of higher education in China . Liu Jin expresses his hope that Chongqing University would live up to the care and generosity of Henry Fok Foundation, and the entire University should be devoted to construction of the Sports Center with highly-developed sense of responsibility and mission, and unlimited vitality and fearlessness.

Shi Quanbo, deputy head of the United Front Work Department Chongqing Municipal CPC Committee, extends his sincere gratitude to Hendry Fok Foundation for the support it has granted to the education business of Chongqing. He points out that patriotic industrialists like Henry Fok are devoted to revitalizing the Chinese nation and reviving the country, and have been making great contribution to the education of science and technology of China , and the construction and development of Chongqing. Shi expresses his heartfelt hope that more and more compatriots from Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau, overseas Chinese, and overseas Chinese entrepreneurs would learn from Chairman Ian Fok and devote themselves to construction of China, and do their part in facilitating education development of west China, in an ultimate effort to build Chongqing into an inland open city with picturesque scenery.

Ian Fok extends his sincere gratitude towards Chongqing University for the warm reception on behalf of Henry Fok Foundation. Ian Fok points out that his father Henry Fok had been making efforts to boom the country and prosper the Chinese nation throughout his entire life, whether in his early years when he was arduously starting a business or in his later years when he became a generous contributor. The Fok family has gone through the turbulent years of reform and the vicissitudes of time. However, they never forget to love Hong Kong and China and benefit the people. In the past years, Henry Fok Foundation has been donating funds and supplies to mainland China , and has been always doing its part in construction of the country, development of education, talent cultivation and sports revitalization. Now, Henry Fok Foundation is donating to build the Sports Center at Chongqing University to fulfill the last wish of Mr. Henry Fok. Ian Fok expresses his hope that the Sports Center would be used as a place for exercise and fitness by teachers and students of the University, and function as a bridge between the Foundation and University to cooperate and communicate in the future.

At the ceremony, honored guests are laying the foundation stone for the Henry Fok Sports Center of Chongqing University.

Henry Fok Sports Center of Chongqing University is located at the northeast corner of Huxi Campus and has a total building area of 62,500 square meters and a floor area of 34,600 square meters. The total investment is 417 million yuan. The design of Sports  Center highlights “economy, practicability, energy saving, safety, controllability and appearance”. It integrates the “Sports   Street” and “random walk system”. Upon completion of the Sports Center, it will serve as an all-weather indoor place for physical exercise and fitness of students, teachers and administrative staff members. Football field, basketball court, badminton court, table tennis court and volleyball court will be provided, apart from a constant temperature swimming pool, all built according to the competitive race standard. In addition, places for aerobics, judo, and yoga are also provided. Establishment of the Sports  Center will play an important role in improving the school running condition, enriching campus culture, vitalizing the campus and implementing the nationwide fitness programs.

Henry Fok is an outstanding social activist, well-known patriotic industrialist, and philanthropist of China, the vice chairman of the 8^th, 9^th and 10^th Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and the permanent honorary chairman of China General Chamber of Commerce. Since founding of Henry Fok Foundation, it has been sticking to the philosophy for public benefit of “reviving the nation, revitalizing country, rewarding the motherland and helping the poor” and has made considerable contribution to development of China in education, medical treatment, culture, sports and etc. By now, Henry Fok Foundation has granted funds to various universities in China including Shanghai Jiaotong University, Ji'nan University and Sun Yat-Sen University.
