CQU Sets Up Branch Office of Overseas Talent Recruitment in the USA

From January 8 to 10, 2018 of the American Time, the talent recruitment delegation led by Wang Shilong, vice president of Chongqing University attends the signing and inauguration ceremony of the first branch office of overseas talent recruitment set up by Chongqing University and conducts talent introduction publicizing and exchange activities at Stanford University, University of Utah, and University of California-Los Angeles. The delegation is made up of Deng Shaojiang, director of the Office of Human Resources, Xu Jun, director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, Yang Chun, deputy director of the Office of Human Resources and director of the Office of Talent Introduction, and Ren Ming, deputy director of the Office of Alumni Affairs.

 

After negotiation between the Human Resources Department of CQU and the Chinese Association for Science and Technology, USA, Chongqing University and Chinese Association for Science and Technology, USA have reached an agreement with respect to establishment of “Branch office of overseas talent recruitment (USA) of Chongqing University”. During the visit to the University if Utah, Wang Shilong signs the cooperation agreement with Jiang Weimin, chairman of the Association, on behalf of Chongqing University. Chongqing University is currently planning to set up branch office of overseas talent recruitments in other countries, in an effort to expand the oversea talent introduction channels and enhance international influence of Chongqing  University.

From January 8 to 10, the delegation respectively holds 3 talent recruitment talks at Stanford University, University of Utah, and University of California-Los Angeles. On January 8, nearly 30 persons including doctors, post-doctors and Silicon Valley talents from the Stanford University, University of Utah and the University of California-Los Angeles are present at the recruitment talk. The second recruitment is held at the University of Utah on January 9, and is attended by nearly 40 persons, including doctors, post-doctors, professors, scholars and experts in related areas. On January 10, the third recruitment talk is held at the University of California-Los Angeles. A total of nearly 20 persons including doctors and post-doctors attend the talk. Over the talk, Wang Shilong gives an introduction to the general condition, development history and desire for talents of Chongqing University to the attendants, and makes invitations to them on behalf of Chongqing  University. Yang Chun introduces related talent introduction policies of Chongqing University. After that, the delegation answers questions brought forward by the attendants with respect to working and living in Chongqing University. During the event, journalists of the China Press, a Chinese media in the USA , are present and have an on-the-spot interview to understand related policy of Chongqing University. The delegation also carries out series visit and exchange activities at the University of Utah. In a meeting with Professor David Pershing, president of the University, and Sabine Klahr, director of the Office of International Affairs of the University, the two parties have in-depth discussion about international cooperation and exchange between Chongqing University and the University  of Utah. President Pershing has accepted the invitation to visit Chongqing University in 2018 with pleasure. The delegation afterwards pays a visit to the Huntsman Cancer Institute of the University of Utah, a top-level cancer institute in the USA , and has a conversation with Professor Alana Welm and Professor Dave Lum. The two parties have reached an initial intention to strengthen communication and cooperation. The delegation is cordially received by Professor Rich Brown, dean of the School of Engineering of the University  of Utah. Accompanied by Professor Rich Brown, the delegation pays a visit to the Surface Analysis Lab and the Nano-manufacturing Lab of the University. The two parties have reached an initial intention to cooperate in areas such as material sciences, machinery engineering, chemical engineering and power.

The visit to the USA has been a busy and fruitful one. The first branch office of overseas talent recruitment is successfully set up, and initial cooperation intention has been achieved with a number of parties. The events have drawn attention of a number of outstanding overseas talents. The expected goals have been fulfilled. The schools and faculties will be required to carry out demonstration and expedite the talent recruitment of Chongqing University. This way, the outstanding talents will be able to come to Chongqing University earlier to validate the actual effect of the visit to the USA , and lay a solid foundation for the overseas talent recruitment of Chongqing University in 2018.
