Jinyun Forum on “Chemistry, Biology, Medicine and Human Health” held at Chongqing University

On January 24, 2018, the Jinyun Forum on “Chemistry, Biology, Medicine and Human Health” sponsored by the Association for Science and Technology and the Faculty of Sciences of Chongqing University and the Young Teacher Salon, and organized by the School of Bioengineering and the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering is held at the 1F-9 Lecture Hall, Library, Huxi Campus, Chongqing University. Professor Yang Guoqiang, vice president of the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Professor JörgBartsch from the University of Marburg and other well-known scholars from Xi’an Jiaotong University, Sichuan University and etc. also attend the event upon invitation. In addition, Wei Zidong, dean of the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Wang Guixue, dean of the School of Bioengineering, He Yun, dean of the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Liu Ganxin, secretary general of the Association for Science and Technology of Chongqing University attend the Forum as well.

Professor Yan Guoqiang delivers an opening speech at the Forum. In the speech, Yang gives an introduction to the teaching and management experience of reputable colleges and universities, and to the progress in research and application of biological probes. Professor JörgBartsch from Germany introduces the potential application of ADAMs in cancer therapy. Dr. Xu from the UK introduces the new testing techniques used in hemorheology. Dean Liu Jiankang from Xi’an Jiaotong University gives a detailed description of the resistance mechanism of melanoma and the latest research findings published by his team on Nat comm this month. Professor Tu Xiaolin from Chongqing Medical University introduces the attendants to a brand-new scientific hypothesis about sclerostin that the bone cells is stimulated by hormones and mechanical force as the target cells to promote generation of metabolic factors in the bone and the differentiation capacity and vitality of osteogenesis and osteoclast are controlled by regulating Wnt signals. A number of experts and scholars from reputable colleges and universities and research institutes in China, and young teachers from CQU have academic discussion about related medicine themes. Apart from that, this Forum has drawn extensive attention from the students and teachers in Chongqing. Teachers and students from many colleges and universities such as Southwest University, Chongqing Medical University and its affiliated hospitals, Chongqing Institute for Green Intelligence Technology and the Affiliated Central Hospital of Chongqing University are also present at the event.

The Forum successfully stimulates the enthusiasm of young teachers and postgraduates about scientific research, and promotes teacher-student communication and integrative development of different programs. It also functions as an encouraging communication platform for promotion of medical research and “Double-First-Rate” construction of Chongqing University, and lays a solid foundation for construction of biological and medicinal chemistry of Chongqing  University.
