Professor Hou Shiying elected as new council president of China University Electrotechnics Research Institute

From April 14 to 15, 2018, the 2018 annual meeting of the Council of China University Electrotechnics Research Institute is being held in Shiyan, Hubei Province. A total of 40 council members of the China University Electrotechnics Research Institute attend the meeting. At the meeting, the work of the 7th Council is summarized and the 8th Standing Council is elected and formed. Professor Hou Shiying of the School of Electrical Engineering of Chongqing University is elected as the president of the 8th Standing Council of China University Electrotechnics Research Institute.

 

At the beginning of the meeting, President Wu Jianqiang debriefs on behalf of the Council the spirit of the meeting of Standing Council held in Zhuhai in February 2018 and after that delivers a systematic and comprehensive summary of the work of the 7th Standing Council. He also restates the formation principle of the standing council as specified in the Articles of Association and organizes the election of a new president. Through secret ballot of the 40 attending council members, a total of 15 standing members are selected to form the new (8th) Standing Council of China University Electrotechnics Research Institute. Afterwards, the president, vice president and secretary general are elected through secret ballot of members of the new council. Professor Hou Shiying of the School of Electrical Engineering of Chongqing University is elected as the president of the 8th Standing Council of China University Electrotechnics Research Institute. Professor Zhu Weixing from Jiangsu University, Professor Liu Ye from Xi’an Jiaotong University, Associate Professor Duan Yusheng from Tsinghua University, Professor Cao Jie from Lanzhou University of Technology, Professor He Yigang from Hefei University of Technology, and Professor Lei Yong from Sichuan University are elected vice presidents of the Research Institute. Associate Professor Duan Yusheng of Tsinghua University and Professor Lei Yong of Sichuan University will also double as the secretaries general of the Research Institute.

Professor Hou Shiying is the first professor of Chongqing University that has been elected the president of the Research Institute since its founding. Professor Hou is also the first president of the Research Institute from colleges and universities in west China. The election of Professor Hou as the president is a reflection of the high level of construction of electrotechnics courses and teaching and research in China, and is also the result of continuous efforts of teaching staff of electrotechnics.
