The achievement presentation of 2018 National Micro-entrepreneurship Campaign for College Students was held at Renmin University of China on November 21, 2018. After preliminary assessment online, online exhibition and onsite defense, Weiding Technology-Supplier of Intelligent EMP Welding Equipment Set, the innovation and entrepreneurship project of Chongqing University students won the gold award (10 gold awards granted nationwide). It is the only gold-award winning project of Chongqing. Chongqing University was dubbed as the outstanding organizing unit.
It is reported that the 1st National Micro-entrepreneurship Campaign was held in 2015, and this is its 4th year. A total of 980 projects of nearly 300 colleges and universities in Huazhong University of Science and Technology, South China University of Technology, Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, and Chongqing University passed the primary election. The projects related to a number of industries such as the internet, financial payment, new agriculture, ARVR, healthcare, electronic commerce, content industry, Internet of Things and artificial intelligence. Eventually 10 gold awards, 10 silver awards, 30 copper awards and 20 outstanding organizing awards were issued.
At the road show, a jury made up of 11 experts in college entrepreneurship education, angel investors and young experts in entrepreneurship including Shi Yu, a partner of Garage Coffee, Dai Yong, a partner in charge of entrepreneurship DNA foundation management of X-lab, Tsinghua University, and Xu Jingbo, deputy general manager of TusStar (Beijing) Investment Management Co., Ltd. conducted comprehensive appraisal on the projects from perspectives like project entrepreneurship team, commercial mode, profitability, innovation, sustainability and social value. At last, the innovation and entrepreneurship project of CQU students, Weiding Technology-Supplier of Intelligent EMP Welding Equipment Set, won the gold award (10 gold awards granted nationwide).
The project team of Weiding Technology-Supplier of Intelligent EMP Welding Equipment Set is made up of doctoral candidates, postgraduate students and undergraduate students from the School of Electrical Engineering, School of Automation, School of Economics and Business Administration and School of Material Science and Engineering. The team has tackled various challenges in metallic welding, and is dedicated to becoming a provider of EMP welding solutions.
In recent years, the Youth League Committee of Chongqing University has been carrying out innovation and entrepreneurship education surrounding the “Double-First-Rate” construction and talent cultivation goals of the University. Specific measures include organizing associations, competitions, projects and related events. The ultimate purpose is to build an all-round, chain-type, multi-level cultivation system of I&E teams, with emphasis laid on development of students’ innovation spirit, awareness and I&E capacity, so as to allow them to play a pioneering role in mass entrepreneurship and public entrepreneurship.
