China-Guinea “Energy Economics and Environmental Sustainability” Program comes to a successful conclusion

The graduation ceremony of China-Guinea “Energy Economics and Environmental Sustainability” Program was held in Conference Room 506, Main Building, Chongqing University on the afternoon, December 14, 2018. Officials of the School of International Education and the School of Resources and Environmental Science, and representatives of supporting enterprises including Zhongshe Engineering Consultancy (Chongqing) Co., Ltd. and Chongqing Shuguang Urban Industrial Park Construction Group Co., Ltd. attended the event. Chen Ying, deputy dean of the School of International Education, presided at the ceremony.

 

Professor Jiang Deyi, dean of the School of Resources and Environmental Science, extended his congratulations on graduation of senior officials of Guinea from the Program. He pointed out that this Program had strengthened mutual understanding and exchange between China and Guinea in a number of areas, and served as a favorable platform for exchange and cooperation between the two in areas like energy and environment. The successful conclusion of this Program is the result of efforts made by Chongqing University in implementing international development strategy and serving the society by providing higher education. It is also the result of the joint efforts of Chongqing University and the Republic of Guinea in practicing the subjects of Forum on China-Africa Cooperation Beijing Summit. Professor Jiang expressed his hope that this Program would serve as a new start for Chongqing and Guinea to develop a more practical, extensive and reciprocal relation in economic and trading cooperation.

Mr. Mohamed Maama CAMARA, secretary general of the Ministry of Land and City Administration of the Republic of Guinea, shared what he had learnt and obtained from participating in the Program on behalf of the students. He had an overall review of the main content of the Program, and summarized every special lecture and field visit in a detailed manner. Mr. Mohamed Maama CAMARA stated that he had benefited a lot from the Program, and it had greatly improved the ability of Guinean senior officials in terms of governance and administration. After that, he expressed his hope that Guinea would maintain close contact with Chongqing University and other related enterprises in Chongqing, and extend similar programs to other governmental levels of Guinea, so as to facilitate strategic cooperation relations between the two in areas such as talent training, high and new technologies and agriculture. At the end, Mr. Mohamed Maama CAMARA expressed his sincere gratitude to Chongqing University for the extraordinary arrangement and ordered organization of this Program, to Dr. Naby Moussa SYLLA, head of the Program delegation, for his positive facilitation, and to all workers and volunteers for their hardworking and contributions.

Dr. Naby Moussa SYLLA, head of the Program delegation and an alumnus of Chongqing University, thanked all Chinese and Guinean workers again for their contributions to success of the Program. He said that the Program had been a fruitful one. All students would apply what they have learnt to practical work, and boost social and economic development of Guinea, thus playing a positive role in building a stronger China-Africa Community of Common Destiny. Dr. Naby Moussa SYLLA added that 2019 is the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relation between China and Guinea, and he would like to invite officials of Chongqing University and honored guests present to the celebrating event that would be held in Guinea in 2019.

Afterwards, Jiang Deyi, dean of the School of Resources and Environmental Science, Li Jing, deputy dean of the School of International Education (in charge of daily affairs), and representatives of supporting enterprises issued course completion certificates to students and took group photos with them. The graduation ceremony ended with all this harmonious cheer.
