The latest ESI data were released on January 21, 2021 of Beijing time. According to the latest data, the earth science discipline of Chongqing University is listed among the top 1% ESI disciplines globally for the first time. By now, 12 CQU disciplines, including materials science, engineering, chemistry, physics, computer science, environmental science/ecology, biology and biochemistry, earth science, mathematics, clinical medicine, plant and animal science and social science, are among the top 1% ESI disciplines globally. ESI database ranks the colleges, universities and research institutions around the world based on the paper citations. According to the latest statistics, 7,098 organizations have one or more disciplines that are included in the top 1% ESI disciplines. CQU is ranked the 552nd place in 2021, 13 places higher compared than the ranking in the previous year, with 12 disciplines included. In particular, the engineering discipline and the material science discipline remain as globally top 1‰ disciplines.
