CQU students won important prizes in the 4th Phoenix Contact Smart Technology Innovation and Application Competition

The National Final of the 4th Phoenix Contact Smart Technology Innovation and Application Competition came to an end on June 5, 2021 in Jinling, a well-endowed Chinese city with a long history. After 3 days of intense competition, two participating teams of the School of Automation of Chongqing University won 1 national second prize and 1 national third prize.

The two teams are respectively “CQU Task Force”, made up of members including Bao Han, Yang Yiqing and Chen Haiyan, sophomores of the School of Automation, and “No. 1 CQU Team” made up of members including Song Ge, Zhang Bowen and Bai Shuanghao, junior students of the School of Automation. Lai Junfeng, a teacher of the School, acted as the supervisor of both teams. The two teams participated in the preliminary contest in September 2020. Eight months later, in June 2021, their works "intelligent portable refrigerator" won the national second prize and the works "intelligent car cable cutting and shaper craft punch" won the national third prize.

The Phoenix Contact Smart Technology Innovation and Application Competition was co-sponsored by Chinese Association of Automation, China Instrument and Control Society and Chinese Electrotechnical Society. The event this year was guided by the idea of “intelligent innovation, bright future”, with an emphasis on innovation and application. Its purpose was to promote the combination of theoretical learning and practical operation, and provide a platform for participants to learn, share, interact, compete and show talents. More than 100 teams from colleges and universities in China, including Zhejiang University, Tongji University and Chongqing University, participated in the Competition. After review, 37 participating teams made it to the national final, which was held in Nanjing.

The Experimental Teaching Center of the School of Automation, Chongqing University has included the innovation experiment courses in the talent cultivation program, in an effort to encourage students to participate in various scientific competitions. For them, scientific competitions are important carriers of expansion and extension of experimental teaching and talent cultivation. Importance shall be attached to the cultivation of students’ scientific spirit and awareness of innovation, and the role of expertise in scientific competitions shall be highlighted to create an inspiring environment where importance is attached to both the professional education and individual development of students. The Experimental Teaching Center will continue to make the utmost of scientific competitions to constantly improve the talent cultivation through scientific innovation system, reform the talent cultivation modes and promote the cultivation of innovation-oriented talents.
