The national final of the 7th China International College Students "Internet +" Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, co-sponsored by 12 central ministries and commissions including the Ministry of Education and the United Front Work Department of CPC Central Committee, is going on at Nanchang University from October 12 to 16, 2021.

After fierce competition, Chongqing University delegation pocketed 6 gold awards, 5 silver awards and 1 copper award. Chongqing University ranks at the 4th place with other universities among colleges and universities (Class A and Class B) under the World First-rate University Construction Program in terms of the number of gold awards. This is the best results Chongqing and CQU have achieved in this Competition in terms of the number of gold awards and the total number of awards. Specifically, it is the first time that Chongqing and Chongqing University have won 2 gold awards in the Undergraduate Creativity Group of the Main Racing Track of Higher Education, and 1 gold award in the Creativity Group of “Red Dream Building Journey of Young People” Racing Track and 1 gold award in the Public Welfare Group, and 2 gold awards of international projects. Chongqing University is the only university that has claimed the gold award of international projects in southwest China for 3 straight years. In addition, Chongqing University won the “Advanced Collective Award”, and the supervisor of the gold award winning project was awarded the “Outstanding Innovation and Entrepreneurship Supervisor Award”. Besides, the project Same Strain was selected as an exhibit of the International College Students’ Innovation and Entrepreneurship Results Exhibition, and was inspected by Sun Chunlan, a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the CPC and vice premier of the State Council. In addition, it was also reported to Wu Yan, head of the Department of Higher Education under the Ministry of Education. Before the Competition, Shu Lichun, secretary of CPC CQU Committee, visited the participating teachers and students. Wang Xu, deputy secretary of CPC CQU Committee, Liao Ruijin, vice president of CQU, and other officials organized a dedicated mobilization deployment meeting.

Supervised by Li Jian, the Oil Derived from Spine Date undertaken by Sha Zhou from Chongqing University-University of Cincinnati Joint Co-op Institute, Jiang Mingxuan from the School of Electrical Engineering, Yang Mingfei from the School of Economics and Business Administration, Du Yao from the School of Mechanical Engineering and Ouyang Lihao from the School of Automation, claimed the gold award as the runner-up of the Undergraduate Creativity Group of the Main Racing Track of Higher Education. The Project Weiding Technology, supervised by Li Chengxiang and undertaken by Zhang Bingfei from the School of Electrical Engineering, Li Kunluo from the School of Economics and Business Administration, Xiang Hong from the School of Electrical Engineering, Zhou Linna from the School of Management Science and Real Estate, and Zhu Kai from the School of Electrical Engineering, claimed the gold award as the runner-up in the Undergraduate Creativity Group of the Main Racing Track of Higher Education. Supervised by Zhao Hua, the Colorful Cartoon Town undertaken by Gu Xuyang and Cheng Lin from Meishi Film Academy, Wu Zhongying from the School of Management Science and Real Estate, and Zhang Yanming and Zhou Meijun from Meishi Film Academy claimed the gold award as the runner-up in the Creativity Group of “Red Dream Building Journey of Young People” Racing Track. Supervised by Xiong Qing, the Project Nitrogen Pioneer, undertaken by Song Yijia from the School of Electrical Engineering, Li Xiaoqian from Meishi Film Academy, Zhang Luning from the School of Mechanical Engineering and Wang Dazhi and Yang Qi from the School of Electrical Engineering, claimed the gold award as the champion of the Creativity Group of “Red Dream Building Journey of Young People” Racing Track. Supervised by Huang Zhengyong, the Projects WD Tech and Jatropha Plant Insulating Oil, undertaken by Fang Boran, Yi Hongrui and Gao Xuzhao, all double-registration students, claimed the gold award for international projects of the Racing Track of Higher Education.

The Project Second to None, supervised by Wang Bochu and other teachers and undertaken by Pan Yinping from the School of Bioengineering, the Project Same Strain, supervised by Wang Zhihui and other teachers and undertaken by Feng Yuchen from the School of Automation, the Project Electric Monitoring supervised by Yang Fan and other teachers and undertaken by Liu Liwei from the School of Electrical Engineering, and the Project Shock and Melt supervised by Zhou Yan and other teachers and undertaken by Shen Ting from the School of Electrical Engineering claimed the silver award of the Racing Track of Higher Education. The Project Intelligent Chiropractic Robot supervised by Hou Shiying and other teachers and undertaken by a double-registration student Hu Wenhao claimed the silver award for international projects of the Racing Track of Higher Education. Project A Township of Water supervised by He Qiang and other teachers and undertaken by Luo Junxiao from the School of Environment and Ecology claimed the copper award of the “Red Dream Building Journey of Young People” Racing Track.

In order to get prepared for the Competition, Chongqing University established the Working Committee of CQU for the 7th China International College Students "Internet +" Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition. The Students I&E Working Leading Group was responsible for the overall planning and guide. The Students Work Department of CPC CQU Committee, the Postgraduate Work Department of CPC CQU Committee, the Undergraduate School, the Institute of Scientific Research and Development of CQU, Office of Social Science of CQU, the Postgraduate School, the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, the Office of Alumni Work, the Secretariat of the Education Foundation, the Office of University Science Park, the Student Career Development and Employment Guiding Center and other functional departments were responsible for organization and implementation. Thanks to the active involvement and mobilization of the schools, totally 436 projects and 3,532 participants registered for the Competition. A series of preparing activities held on line and off line, including the I&E Training Camp, I&E Lecture, themed simulated defense and dedicated tutoring provided by well-known entrepreneurs and responsible persons of investment institutions, were held. Totally more than 70 rounds of training were provided to cultivate and incubate the projects.

It is reported that China International College Students "Internet +" Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition is held in response to the suggestion of Premier Li Keqiang. It is an I&E competition co-sponsored by 12 central ministries and commissions including the Ministry of Education and local provincial people’s governments. The 7th Competition took “brave enough, innovative enough” as its theme and has attracted more than 9.56 million registered participants and more than 2.28 million projects from 4,347 colleges and universities across 121 countries and regions. It has become an important window to exhibit the teaching reform achievements of higher education in the new era and a global grand event where college students from all over the world have their I&E dreams realized.
