The 2021 Yangtze River Conference of Oncology, organized by Chongqing University Cancer Hospital with assistance of Chongqing Medical Biotechnology Association, was being held from December 3 to 4, 2021 in Chongqing in an effort to promote development of cancer prevention and treatment and improve the level of cancer prevention and treatment. More than 60 experts from all over China gathered at the event and shared the latest progress and thoughts of cancer prevention and treatment.

Wu Yongzhong, secretary of CPC Committee of Chongqing University Cancer Hospital, delivered a welcome speech at the event. Wu extended his sincere welcome to experts and researchers present at the event. According to Wu, cancer prevention and treatment is still facing serious challenges. Chongqing University Cancer Hospital has established a “one work and one chain” community for cancer prevention and treatment, in a bid to constantly improve the three “core abilities”, namely, comprehensive treatment, specialized services and scientific research teaching, and provide all-round full-cycle health services for the public. Wu expressed his hope that Chongqing University Cancer Hospital would take this event as a platform to make contribution to the development of oncology and overall improvement of cancer prevention and treatment level.

Yu Jinming, an academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering and honorary president of Shandong First Medical University (Shandong Academy of Medical Sciences), delivered a speech at the Conference. In his speech, Yu extended his sincere gratitude to experts and researchers for their care and support for the development of cancer research. He pointed out that 2021 Yangtze River Conference of Oncology still took “innovation, opening, collaboration and sharing” as its tenet and focused on building of academic exchange platform for oncology and promotion of development of cancer prevention and treatment. Yu also encouraged the attendants to communicate with and learn from each other actively throughout the event, so as to make common improvement and take the theoretical research and clinical work of oncology to a higher level.

It is reported that the “Yangtze River Conference of Oncology” is an academic grand event of oncology sponsored by Chongqing University Cancer Hospital. It was previously held in 2016 and 2018 in Chongqing. With “innovation, opening, collaboration and sharing” as its tenet, the event focused on building of academic exchange platform for oncology and promotion of development of cancer prevention and treatment.
