The Unlimited International Publishing CQU Opening Ceremony and World Debut Ceremony of Chinese and English Versions of High Plasticity Magnesium Alloys were held successfully at "Chongqing University Library" on April 21, indicating start of the "CQU bathing in the fragrance of books" series activities to celebrate the World Reading Day that falls on April 23. Pan Fusheng, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Chairman of Chongqing Association for Science and Technology, a CQU professor and Honorary Director of National Engineering Research Center for Magnesium Alloys, Lu Yiyu, Vice President of Chongqing University, Rao Banghua, President of Chongqing University Press, Wang Yu, Secretary of General Party Branch of Chongqing University Library, and Yang Xinya, Curator of Chongqing University Library, showed up at the ceremony. Wang Yu presided at the ceremony.

On behalf of Chongqing University Library, Yang Xinya congratulated on the first release of the Chinese and English versions of High Plasticity Magnesium Alloys in the world. Yang said that in the future the Library would concentrate efforts on boosting cooperation with global well-known publishing groups and contribute to the "Double-First-Rate" construction of Chongqing University. Yang Xinya also gave a brief introduction to the "CQU bathing in the fragrance of books" series activities.

Rao Banghua congratulated on the global first release of the book, and extended his gratitude to the team of Pan Fusheng for their trust in and support for Chongqing University Press. Rao then shared the story of how it took a number of years for the book to be finally released. He said that this was an important move of CQU Press to help Chongqing University boost academic publication and "go out". It is both a responsibility and an honor. In the future, CQU Press will continue to take serving academic publication as its major task and serve construction of "Double-First-Rate" construction.

Pan Fusheng gave an introduction to the new book. Pan said that, in order to promote the extensive application of magnesium alloy, there was an urgent need to develop the manufacturing technology of high-plastic magnesium alloy and high-formability magnesium alloy products. For this purpose, the scientific research team of Chongqing University put forward a new theory of high-plastic magnesium alloy design, developed a number of new magnesium alloy materials with high plasticity and strength, and made various important achievements in improving the plasticity and strength of magnesium alloy. The Chinese and English versions of High Plasticity Magnesium Alloys co-published by CQU Press and Elsevier are important works of Jiang Bin, Wang Jingfeng, Hu Yaobo and other researchers and integrate wisdom and experience of a number of top research experts. The world first release of the English version and Chinese version of the book will surely provide practical and effective Chinese solutions to development of new-type high-plasticity magnesium alloys in various countries. Academician Pan donated 10 copies of the Chinese and English versions respectively of the book to Chongqing University Library.

On behalf of Chongqing University, Lu Yiyu congratulated Pan Fusheng and his team, and particularly underlined the importance of academic monographs to "go out". Lu added that "Double-First-Rate" construction was a long-term tough strategic task of Chongqing University. Chongqing University Library and Chongqing University Press should perform their respective functions, and make active efforts in bolstering the "Double-First-Rate" construction of Chongqing University from the perspectives of production and dissemination of first-rate academic achievements, and allow more front-line scientific and technological achievements of CQU to be spread to the world academic community.

Dr. Glyn Jones, Publisher of the Book Division of Elsevier, attended the debut ceremony by virtual means. He said that he was happy to receive the High Plasticity Magnesium Alloys published by Chongqing University Press and extended his thanks to Chongqing University Library and CQU Press for organizing the debut ceremony.

At the ceremony, Wang Yu read out the Selection Scheme of Second "Reading Stars" of Chongqing University.

Other honored guests that showed up at the ceremony included Prof. Jiang Bin, Prof. Wang Jingfeng, Prof. Hu Yaobo, and Associate Prof. Song Jiangfeng, co-authors of the monograph, Chen Xiaoyang, Editor in Chief of CQU Press and Tian Shenpeng, Country Manager of Elsevier in China.
