On August 2, the list of winners of 2022 K-DESIGN AWARD was released. The works Touchable Colors of a professional product design team from the Department of Design Science of CQU's School of Arts was given the K-DESIGN AWARD 22 WINNER.

The K-DESIGN AWARD is sponsored and organized by DESIGNSORI Co., Ltd. It is the top award for industrial design widely recognized in Korea, and is now one of the 3 major design awards in Asia. Unlike other awards that focus only on the simplicity and complicatedness of design modeling, the Award encourages participants to create real value by empowering the products with tactical design. In 2022, the K-DESIGN AWARD received 1,903 pieces of competing works from 24 countries all over the world. The jury made up of 25 experts from 7 countries conducted 3 rounds of strict appraisal. Eventually, about 10% of the product design, space/architecture design, communication design projects were selected and given the K-DESIGN AWARD 22 WINNER.

The works Touchable Colors, a drawing aid designed for children with poor color perception, was jointly designed by Xia Jinjun, Fan Zhengyan, Zhong Shuxiao, Zhang Rongyu and Sun Yuan. The product can be connected to the color display device through Bluetooth and transform the visual cool and warm colors of the color into tactile temperature. Based on the change of perception, the user feels the perceived temperature by using the product, and adjusts the rotation button to control the color of painting. This allows them to establish a closer relationship with the world through self-expression and communication, and reduce their potential psychological risk. Moreover, a multi-channel interaction mode is adopted, so as to provide a new solution and possibility for people with weak visual perception to use electronic devices in a more effective way in the future.

The professional product design team of the Department of Design Science of CQU's School of Arts have claimed a number of design awards at home and abroad, including Red Dot Design Award, iF Award, Red Star Award, K Design Award, and the gold, silver and copper awards of the Smart Expo Cup. The winning of K-DESIGN AWARD 22 WINNER fully demonstrates the vision of design discipline of Chongqing University to guide innovation, art and industry integration, and value remodeling based on design thoughts and its platform advantages in interdisciplinary development. With the goal of delivering design works of world top level, the team is giving full play to the important role of design discipline in serving the economic, cultural and social development of China and Chongqing, so as to help Chongqing become the world-first-rate "Capital of Design".
