National Engineering Research Center for Magnesium Alloys (CCMg) was established in 2007, and approved as National International Joint Research Center in 2008. The director is Prof. Fusheng Pan, and Prof. Wenjiang Ding serves as director of the technical committee, both are Academicians of Chinese Academy of Engineering. CCMg has established a R&D base with an area of over 10000m2, equipped with a variety of modern facilities for material characterization and Mg processing equipment. CCMg has undertaken two “973” projects and two National key R&D projects, and awarded 4 National Awards and over 20 Provincial Awards due to its great contribution to magnesium alloys. Over 800 SCI journal papers and 15 international and national standards are published, over 200 patents are granted. The developed magnesium products have been applied in automotive, 3C, aerospace and military industries. The center founded the first international magnesium journal "Journal of Magnesium and Alloys", and chaired the ISO TC79/SC5 of magnesium and magnesium alloy technology.
