CQU-Run Journal of Magnesium and Alloys receives its first Impact Factor of 4.523 and Ranks 2nd among Journals in Metallurgy & Metallurgical Engineering category Worldwide.

On June 29th, 2020, Clarivate Analytics released the 2019 Journal Citation Report. Journal of Magnesium and Alloys (JMA) run by Chongqing University (Elsevier, ISSN: 2213-9567; CN 1220-50/TF) has an impact factor of 7.115(IF:7.115), ranking the 2nd place among the 79th SCI indexed academic journals on Metallurgy and Metallurgical Engineering in the world, and is included in JCR Zone 1. The journal impact factor has greatly increased from 4.523 last year to 7.115, which indicates that the international influence of JMA has been continuously improved, and it has become one of the most influential academic journals in metallurgical materials in the world. It is also regarded as an important breakthrough made by Chongqing University in its international academic influence.

JMA was founded by National Engineering Research Center for Magnesium Alloys of Chongqing University in collaboration with Chinese Committee for Magnesium and Its Application in 2013, and is the first international academic journal specialized in magnesium and its alloy. Academician Pan Fusheng of Chongqing University serves as the editor in chief of the journal. Professor Peng Xiaodong acts as the managing associate editor. The Editorial Board is made up of well-known experts in magnesium alloy from more than 10 countries such as the USA, Australia, Canada, Japan and Russia etc., including a group of internationally renowned scientists such as Chairman of International Magnesium Association, Chairman of Korea Materials Society, Academician of American Academy of Engineering, Editor-in-Chief of Acta Mater and Mater Sci Eng International Journal . The Editorial Department is made up of young doctors who have returned after studying abroad such as Yang Yan and Song Jiangfeng. JMA was officially included in the SCI database in December 2018 as the first engineering journal of Chongqing officially included in SCI database.

Magnesium alloy is one of the most potential light-weight materials of the 21st Century and has drawn extensive attention across the world. JMA, as the first international English journal on magnesium alloy in the world’s magnesium alloy sector, has gained great attention of Chongqing University and substantial support from the academic circles at home and abroad and KeAi since its founding. Academician Shi Changxu, a well-known material scientist of China, has written the foreword for the journal and acts as the honorary editor in chief of the journal. Since its founding in 2013, the journal has seen constant improvement in its academic quality and academic influence. In 2019, the journal was successfully selected as one of the leading journals in the "China Science and Technology Journals Excellence Action Plan". It is one of the 22 leading journals in China, and the only national leading international journal in the field of materials and metallurgy. The journal is also one of the four top leading international journals in central and western China.

The editorial department of Journal of Magnesium and Alloys will continue to make efforts to strengthen the internationalization, branding and digitalization of the journal and further enhance it’s international influence. The journal aims to contribute to the construction of world-class scientific journals in China, and serve the development of magnesium alloys.
