Recently, the Fifth Chinese Classics Recitation, Writing and Speaking Contest organized by the Ministry of Education and the State Language Commission announced the list of winners, featuring award-winning CQU faculty and students.
Given the reality and thanks to meticulous organizational and operational measures, CQU outweighed competitors in the preliminary, playoff and final rounds of the contest. In the contest for reciting Chinese classics under "Recitation in China," My People, My Homeland (我和我的家乡) and Phoenix Hairpin (钗头凤) won the First and Third prizes in the college students' group; North and South (我的南方和北方) and To be Well-mannered (知礼) the Second Prize and the Merit Prize in the international students' group; Early Winter in 1978 (1978年的早冬) and The Emperor and the Assassin (荆轲刺秦王) the Merit Prize in the teachers' group; and Zhang Xiaoling and Xiao Mingyan were awarded the Outstanding Instructor Award in the Recitation Contest. In the contest for poem explanation under "Poetry Teaching in China", Invitation to Wine (将近酒) and Climbing Yueyang Tower (登岳阳楼) won the First and Second prizes in the college students' group; Song of the Lute Player (琵琶行) the Third Prize in the college teachers' group; and Zhang Xiaoling the Outstanding Instructor Award. In addition, in the contest for writing Chinese characters under "Ink and Pen in China," Full River Red (满江红) won the Merit Prize in the category of pen-and-ink calligraphy for college students. At the same time, CQU won the Excellent Organization Award of Poem Explanation Contest under "Poetry Teaching in China."
"A Cultured China in a New Era, A New Journey with Classics." CQU will take this contest as an opportunity to continue to do solid work in language, pass on the Chinese classics, carry forward the spirit of the times, keep in mind the fundamental mission, and lay a solid foundation for the development of morality and the cultivation of the soul.
