20 CQU Subjects Rated A in THE China Subject Ratings 2024

On March 27, 2024 Beijing time, Times Higher Education (THE) released the THE China Subject Ratings 2024. The ratings is a table for assessing the performance of Chinese universities based on the Chinese Ministry of Education's classification of subjects and with reference to global universities. With 83 subjects from 1,885 research universities assessed, the ratings 2024 recognized a total of 448 universities with an A+ rating in at least one of their subjects offered.

According to the THE China Subject Ratings 2024, a total of 37 CQU subjects made the list, including 20 A subjects (2 A+, 12 A, 6 A-), placing CQU 19th in the number of shortlisted subjects among the Chinese mainland universities. 2 CQU subjects, Power Engineering & Engineering Thermophysics, and Civil Engineering, were rated A+; CQU had 12 A-rated subjects, namely, Theoretical Economics, Chemistry, Mechanics, Mechanical Engineering, Instrumentation Science & Technology, Materials Science & Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Control Science & Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Mining Engineering, and Aeronautical & Astronautical Science and Technology. The methodologies for the THE China Subject Ratings 2024 include 11 performance-based indicators in five domains: teaching (learning environment); research (publications, revenues and reputation); citations (research impact); international outlook (international faculty, students and research co-authorships); and industry incomes (knowledge transfer). Database sources include the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2024, the Times Higher Education China Academic Reputation Survey 2023 and 2024, the Times Higher Education Global Academic Reputation Survey 2022 and 2023, and Elsevier ScienceDirect.
