On April 26, 20 undergraduates from Stanford University visited CQU for academic exchanges and cultural encounters. The visiting study tour delegation was personally headed by Jean C Oi, Professor of the Department of Political Science at Stanford University and Director of the Stanford Center at Peking University. She was accompanied by Andrew G. Walder, Chair Professor at Stanford University and Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and Scott Rozelle, Professor at Stanford University and recipient of the Chinese Government Friendship Award.
"This exchange epitomizes the cooperation between the two countries in the field of higher education, which not only promotes mutual academic learning and appreciation, but also provides valuable learning opportunities for faculty and students of the two universities," said Prof. Jean C Oi.
During the exchange visit at CQU, Prof. Li Fangchun from CQU Liberal Arts College and Fu Lei, an EMBA student from CQU School of Economics and Business Administration, shared insights on "China-U.S. Academic Exchange and Chinese Studies" and "Innovation and Entrepreneurship of Chinese Students and Business Environment" respectively. The event was also joined by 10 CQU undergraduates from relevant colleges such as the National Elite Institute of Engineering, the Undergraduate School, the Hongshen Honors School, the School of Civil Engineering, the School of Foreign Languages and Cultures, the School of Law, and the College of Mathematics and Statistics.
During its four-day stay in Chongqing, the delegation not only had academic exchanges with CQU faculty members and students, but also paid visits to local enterprises and Chongqing International Logistics Hub Park. This enables them to gain a comprehensive understanding of Chongqing's educational, economic and logistical development. Moreover, the study tour delegation visited Yongli Village in Yunyang County, where they gained an in-depth look at the local rural development and collaborative revitalization strategies.
In terms of cultural exchanges, the study tour delegation is scheduled to visit the General Stilwell Museum and other destinations, in order to memorialize the profound friendship established between the Chinese and American people during the years of Chinese War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, reinforce mutual understanding and emotional ties between the youths of the two countries, and promote cultural mutual understanding.
This exchange between Stanford University and CQU has not only deepened the ties between the two universities, but also laid a solid foundation for future cooperation. Both sides expressed their expectation for more cooperation opportunities in the future.
