Chongqing University and Ajman University of the UAE Sign MOU

On the morning of May 23, the "China (Chongqing) - UAE Economic, Trade and Investment Promotion Conference" was held in Chongqing. H.H Sheikh Ammar Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman of the UAE, H.E Hussein Al Hamady, UAE Ambassador to China, and Mr ZHENG Xiangdong, Vice Mayor of Chongqing Municipal People's Government, attended the event.

Prof WANG Shuxin, President of Chongqing University, was invited to the conference and signed an MOU with Dr. Karim Seghir, President of Ajman University. The two universities will promote academic exchange and cooperation through student and faculty exchanges, joint research, and degree programs.

Ajman University, formerly known as Ajman Institute of Technology, is the region's first university to admit international students and the first private higher education institution within the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). In recent years, it has developed rapidly with strong internationalisation. Its disciplines cover architecture, engineering, IT, business administration, medicine, law, and art & design. Notably, its Data Science & Artificial Intelligence program ranked 51-100 globally in the 2025 QS World University Rankings, ranking first in the UAE.

At the conference, the "MOU between the People's Government of Chongqing Municipality and the Government of Ajman" was also signed. Both sides will accelerate the "Chongqing Vehicles Going Global" action plan and strengthen cooperation on key equipment projects. Chongqing highlighted its industrial development centered on "smart manufacturing, industrial transformation, and technological innovation," as well as its "33618" modern manufacturing cluster. The UAE's industrial diversification and energy transition needs can be precisely matched with Chongqing's new energy technologies and smart manufacturing industries.

In recent years, Chongqing University has actively responded to the "Belt and Road" education initiative. It has leveraged its disciplinary strengths to provide talent and intellectual support for local and regional development, boosting industrial upgrades and innovation.
