From 21st to 28th May, SHU Lichun, Secretary of the CPC Committee of Chongqing University, led a delegation on visits to Óbuda University, Budapest University of Technology and Economics, Eötvös Loránd University, John von Neumann University in Hungary, as well as Management Centre Innsbruck and the University of Vienna in Austria. Representatives from the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, School of Mathematics and Statistics, School of Automation, and School of Mechanical Engineering participated in the visit.
At Óbuda University, Vice President for Research and Innovation Péter Galambos extended a warm welcome and expressed strong interest in collaboration. Both sides explored prioritized cooperation in artificial intelligence, robotics, and green renewable energy, leveraging their respective strengths. Discussions also covered joint postdoctoral training and deep integration of industry, academia, research, and application.

At Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME), Vice President for International Affairs András Nemeslaki and faculty representatives emphasized deepening academic exchanges. The universities exchanged views on jointly applying for intergovernmental joint laboratories.

At Eötvös Loránd University, President László BORHY and Vice President/noted Sinologist Imre Hamar held talks with the delegation. President BORHY detailed the university’s history, disciplines, and global rankings, highlighting its commitment to partnerships with Chinese institutions. He proposed expanding faculty-student exchanges with Chongqing University and exploring collaboration in philosophy, literature, and education.

At John von Neumann University, President Zoltan Nagy and deans met with the delegation. The two institutions co-hosted an unveiling ceremony for the Sino-Hungarian Joint Overseas Training Base for Students.

At Management Centre Innsbruck, international affairs representatives welcomed the delegation. In-depth discussions focused on future cooperation in economics, management, and social sciences.

At the University of Vienna, mathematics department heads expressed hopes to broaden collaboration beyond existing partnerships. Both sides discussed enhancing global influence in mathematics through deepened research cooperation and increased faculty exchanges.
The delegation also visited the Hungarian plant of REHAU, a leading automotive industry enterprise, exploring possibilities for jointly establishing internship and practice bases.
Building on the momentum of this visit, Chongqing University will:
Accelerate implementation of agreed initiatives through formalized exchange programs for students and faculty;
Prioritise joint research ventures in strategic disciplines identified during the talks;
Establish dedicated pipelines for cultivating next-generation innovators;
Operationalise overseas industry-academia platforms including the REHAU partnership;
Expand its global footprint through systematic partnership development.
These concrete actions align with the university's strategic vision to strengthen its international standing while delivering measurable academic and research outcomes.
