On October 15, 2017, at the beginning of a new school year, the 2017 “Recruiting New Members” Recruitment Fair of Students’ Associations of CQU is held at the storm-proof playground of Huxi Campus, CQU. More than 200 students’ associations take part in the Fair to take in new members.

Chongqing University is the only comprehensive university in Chongqing that has been included in the list of colleges and universities to be built into the national “double-first-rate” universities. It has complete disciplines and specialties, and the students’ associations are also classified and categorized according to the main system of talent cultivation of the University. The students’ associations are divided into several categories, including science and technology, voluntary service, arts and literature, sports and exercise, and occupational development. They are all doing their part in improvement of the cultural atmosphere of CQU.

At the fair, the “spectacular” astronomical telescope of the Astronomy Association impresses a number of students. The members of the Association explain that this is a “secret weapon” newly bought by the Association. It is a Daopusen reflecting telescope, and is able to observe the galaxies tens of thousands of light years away. The vast starry sky will lit up your heart.

 “I did not know the complexity involved in wine before. This really expands my knowledge.” The stall of Wine Association is crowded with interested students. While they taste wines, the members of the Association introduce them to the production and tasting of various types of wines. The students who get registered will be given a rose. The Association will also hold wine parties in the future. Students wonder at the welfare provided by the Association to its members and get registered.

What makes college life more wonderful than a middle school life is the inclusiveness of the college. The Association of Students from Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan has a lot of members. The Association does not only provide opportunities for the members to learn and communicate, but also serves as a consulting and sharing platform for mainland students who intend to apply for exchange during university. Associations draw students closer and broaden their horizon.

On that day, the Hot Dance Club, Guitar Association, International Standard Ball Room Dancing Association, Gele Cross Talk Club, Lingshi Cartoon Club and the Chinese Culture Association put on wonderful performance on the platform of the playground or in front of their stalls. The performance combines tradition with modernity and wildness with tenderness. More and more students come to believe that the associations provide them with an opportunity to grow and develop.

At the Fair, the opening ceremony of the online running rank race is held by Students’ Sports Association. Nearly 100 running lovers run around the playground led by a professional teacher. Their mighty steps and inspiring spirit are demonstrating the youth and vigorousness of CQU students.

The professional equipment exhibited by Feiniao Mountaineering Association, the perseverance of the Bicycle Association and the Taekwondo Association, and the numerous medals displayed by the Marathon Club are all symbols of the young and energetic members of the associations.

Members of each association join the association because of enthusiasm and every association gives its members a stage to play. The Wucaishi Youth Volunteer Association has won the central financial support for 3 consecutive years, with a total amount of 3 million yuan. It has also won the national gold award in the “Create Youth” Social Entrepreneurship Competition, and the gold award in China Volunteer Service Project Competition; the Youth Volunteer Association’s “Dreams with Sounds” Team Project is recognized by Qin Yizhi, the first secretary of CYL Central Committee; Li Li, a distinguished fellow of CQU and a member of the Cloud Computing Association, has founded a company, with annual income of more than 100 million yuan. He has also been awarded the “May Fourth Medal of Chongqing”. The KAB Entrepreneurship Club wins the title of the “Top 100 KAB Entrepreneurship Clubs in China ”; the Students’ Sports Association wins the title of “Top 10 Football Associations in China ”. Students’ associations serve as one of the major platforms of talent cultivation of Chongqing  University. The Chongqing University Youth League Committee has been working with the guiding organizations of the associations to improve the creativity, cohesion and capacity of the associations, in an ultimate effort to build first-class associations and cultivate first-class students, and to greet the opening of the 19^th National Congress of the Communist Party of China.

The students’ associations are built by us and will ultimately make us better.
