CQU delegation wins Grand Prize in 12th CEDC

From August 17 to 22, 2018, the Final of 2018 “ECEC-Shangu Cup” 12th National Chemical Engineering Design Competition for College Students has been going on at Central South University in Changsha, Hunan. Delegations from a total of 60 colleges and universities have competed fiercely in the final round. Eventually, Chongqing University delegation “Hot Pot Hero” has won the National Grand Prize with their outstanding works and steady performance. The delegation is made up of 5 students of 2015 from the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, including Cheng Yujie, Huang Dan, Tang Jiali, Wu Yuyang and Chen Sen.

The National Chemical Engineering Design Competition for College Students is a competition held for college students majoring in chemical engineering, and is the one of its kind with the highest standard, most participating teams and greatest influence in China. The Competition aims to cultivate the innovative thinking and engineering skills of college students, develop their teamwork skills, and enhance their engineering design and practical ability. It is also in response to the “Outstanding Engineer Education & Training Program”.

A total of 1,852 teams from 333 colleges and universities across China have registered for the Competition this year. The participating teams were allowed 5 months to do the design job, and there were 7 competition areas including Northeast Area, North China Area, East China Area, South China Area, Central China Area, Northwest Area and Southwest Area. Eventually 60 teams made it to the national final and Chongqing University’s “Hot Pot Hero” was one of them.

 

Led by two teachers from the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Wei Shun’an and Xian Xiaochao, have acted as the supervisors of the team. With joint and concerted efforts, the five team members won the first place of Southwest Area, which covered Yunnan, Guizhou, Chongqing and Sichuan, after two rounds of competition. In the first round of group stage of the national final, the team ranked the second place and reached the final, with outstanding results obtained in both special assessment and onsite defense. Eventually, the team won the “National Grand Prize in the Final of the 12th National Chemical Engineering Design Competition for College Students”.
