From February 22 to 28, 2019, the Fourth TCTF-NTU Advanced Leadership Development Forum on “the Belt and Road” Initiative and International Talents Nurturing, sponsored by the Graduate School of Public Administration, Nanyang Technological University is being held in Singapore. Representatives of more than 20 colleges and universities in China , including Zhejiang University, Shanghai Jiaotong University and Chongqing University, have been invited to the Forum to discuss nurturing of international talents. Wang Shilong, vice president of Chongqing University, and Cai Zhenhong, director of the Development Planning Department, attended this grand event on behalf of Chongqing University. Professor Lin Shan, academic dean and vice president (in charge of academic affairs) of Nanyang Technological University, Professor Chen Jinliang, vice president (in charge of schoolfellow and development affairs), Zhang Xumin, minister-counselor Embassy of China in Singapore, Cao Shihai, education counselor, Professor Zhan Daocun, a member of Chen Zhenchuan Foundation Council and honorary president of Nanyang Technological University, and Mr. Ye Suying, president of the Foundation, were all present at the opening ceremony.

At the opening ceremony, Professor Liu Hong, dean of the Graduate School of Public Administration, delivered a welcome speech. Professor Liu extended his sincere welcome to the representatives of the 20 colleges and universities from China , and expressed his hope that this Forum would function as a platform for the representatives to share school running experience and discuss scheme of international talents nurturing. Nanyang Technological University has maintained a close relation with a number of colleges and universities in China , and they will work together to explore the genuine knowledge of higher education.

Lin Shan, academic dean of Nanyang Technological University, stated in his speech that Nanyang Technological University had maintained close relationship with colleges and universities of China. Material cooperation projects have been carried out in terms of students exchange, short-term learning and collaborative research. Furthermore, many well-known enterprises of China , such as Alibaba, SenseTime and WeBank are industrial partners of Nanyang Technological  University. The university-enterprise cooperation has been bringing about inspirations for innovation.

In the keynote speech part, representatives of Nanyang Technological University, Zhejiang University, Shandong University and Chongqing University respectively introduced their respective practice and experience related to nurturing of international talents. Vice President Wang Shilong of Chongqing  University delivered a keynote speech titled “research and practice of innovative nurturing system of international talents – a case study of mechanical engineering”. In his speech, Wang Shilong gave a view to the reform practice and outcomes of Chongqing University based on the national second award for teaching achievements and the “Belt and Road” Initiative and the international talents nurturing. The speech was well received by attendants of the Forum from the two countries.

In order to further implement the talents developing strategy and introduce more high-level talents, on the evening of February 23, Chongqing University held the recruitment fair in Singapore. Vice President Wang Shilong introduced the more than 30 post-doctors and doctoral candidates from Nanyang Technological University and the National University of Singapore to the regional advantages of Chongqing and basic information on Chongqing University, as well as the latest talent introduction policies of Chongqing  University. Wang sincerely invited them to Chongqing  University. Professor Zhao Yanli from the Faculty of Science of Nanyang Technological University presided at the recruitment fair, which has been substantially supported by the Joint Association of Chinese Students in Singapore and Alumni Association of Students from Singapore of Chongqing University.

This Forum is co-sponsored by Nanyang Technological University and Chen Zhenchuan Foundation, and is scheduled to end on February 28. After the Forum in Singapore, the attendants are going to visit Malaysia to communicate and discuss with the University of Malaysia and Xiamen University Malaysia.
