In order to cultivate international talents that have international views and full understanding of international rules and are able to participate in international affairs and competition, the Law School of Chongqing University and the Law School of UC Davis have launched the joint LLM program, which is currently in steady progress. In order to provide interested students with full understanding of the program, the Law School of Chongqing University and the Law School of UC Davis held the online recruitment talk for the “LL.M Double-degree Joint Postgraduate Program” on the morning of May 16, 2020.
UC Davis is a world top research university located in the west of Sacramento, USA, and is attached to the well-known University of California system. It is ranked among the top 50 universities and colleges in the world. At the recruitment talk, a brief introduction was given to the LL.M joint postgraduate program and students who had studied under the program shared their experience at the Law School of UC Davis. At the beginning of the recruitment talk, Liu Chun, deputy secretary of CPC Law School Committee of Chongqing University, analyzed the importance of oversea study program for the growth and development of students, referring to her own experience studying abroad. Liu also indicated that the Law School would exploit more channels for students to exchange and study abroad. Ms. Adriana Aguena, the admission officer of the Law School of UC Davis, gave a detailed view of the LL.M joint postgraduate program, including the admission criteria, course selection, teaching faculty, associational life, school and community support and scholarship application. She emphasized that the students studying under the program were allowed to take the degree awarded by the Law School of CQU and that awarded under the LL.M postgraduate program of UC Davis, and apply for scholarship of UC Davis and the opportunity for internship at the government of California.
Sun Ruiheng, a student of the CQU Law School currently studying at UC Davis shared her living and learning experience at the Law School of UC Davis. Besides describing the food, transportation, housing and clothing, as well as the curriculum, Sun also encouraged students to participate in this meaningful journey of studying abroad and take this opportunity to enrich their personal experience. Vice President Beth Greenwood of UC Davis in charge of international cooperation expressed her support for the LL.M joint postgraduate program between CQU and UC Davis, and made sincere invitation to Chinese students on behalf of the Law School of UC Davis.
As the coronavirus pandemic is sweeping across the world, the Law School of Chongqing University is making steady efforts to carry forward overseas study and international cooperation and exchange, in an effort to provide better services for students planning to study abroad and those currently studying abroad, and internationalize the cultivation of law students. Hopefully the students have a sound plan for their future and are always ready to make a choice. Their horizon will be broadened during their studying abroad and they will make unremitted efforts to become high-quality, all-round law talents with an international view.
