Zhong Denghua, a member of the Party Group of the Ministry of Education and deputy education minister, and his companions arrived at Chongqing University on September 10, 2020 and visited the Teaching Center for Civil Engineering Experimental Courses and three national key laboratories, including State Key Laboratory of Coal Mine Disaster Dynamics and Control, State Key Laboratory of Power Transmission Equipment and System Security and New Technology and State Key Laboratory of Mechanical Transmissions. During the visit, they listened to the brief on construction of the bases and communicated amiably with directors and scientific researchers of the bases and gained an understanding of the efforts made by CQU in scientific and technological innovation. Lei Chaozi, head of the Department of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Education, Huang Zheng, secretary of Chongqing Municipal Education Working Committee and director of Chongqing Municipal Education Commission, Shu Lichun, secretary of CPC CQU Committee, President Zhang Zongyi of CQU, Academician Zhou Xuhong and Vice President Ming Ju of CQU were among the companions.

Zhong Denghua and his companions arrived at the Teaching Center for Civil Engineering Experimental Courses as their first stop, and visited the Vibration Table Lab and the Geotechnical Engineering Lab successively. They listened to a brief on work of the Labs and encouraged the directors to seize the opportunity to better serve the major demand of the country and construction of local economy.

At the State Key Laboratory of Coal Mine Disaster Dynamics and Control, Zhong Denghua listened to a brief on construction of the Lab and expressed his sincere care for Academician Xian Xuefu and wished him a happy Teachers’ Day. Later at the State Key Laboratory of Power Transmission Equipment and System Security and New Technology and State Key Laboratory of Mechanical Transmissions, Zhong listened to a brief on the efforts the Lab has made in the past 3 years in areas like energy and intelligent control, introduction and cultivation of high-level talents, development of the research team, involvement in construction of platforms of CQU and major tasks of the country. Zhong expressed his satisfaction about the achievements the Lab has made in recent years.

At the Archive of Chongqing University, Zhong was introduced to the 90-year development history of Chongqing University and the efforts the University had made in talent cultivation, scientific research and social service.

Zou Hui, director of the Foundation Section, Department of Science and Technology, Ministry of Education, Jiang Yunfang, director of the Department of Science and Technology of Chongqing Municipal Education Commission, and Vice President Liu Hanlong and Vice President Liao Ruijin of Chongqing University, accompanied Zhong during the visit.
