"CISDI Environmental Protection Cup" The 13th National College Students’ Social Practice and Science and Technology Competition on Energy Conservation and Emission Reduction was held in Chongqing University, and Chongqing CISDI Thermal & Environmental Engineering Co., Ltd. was the enterprise partner of this competition. More than 22,000 participants from 427 universities have registered for this competition with 4,138 valid works. The number of works and participants has set a new record. A total of 672 works were awarded the third prizes, and Only 219 works entered the final competition through the expert internet review and organization review.

On August 28th, the opening of the final of this competition kicked off in the Science Hall, Campus B, Chongqing University.

Zhang Xinxin, Luo Zhongying and Wang Ruzhu, deputy directors of the University Energy and Power Professional Teaching Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education, Ji Jun, Director of Engineering Science Division III, Department of Engineering and Materials Science, NSFC, Li Zhi, Chairman and General Manager of Chongqing CISDI Thermal & Environmental Engineering Co., Ltd., Chen Guanghai, member of the Committee of Chongqing Education Municipal Commission, Zhang Zongyi, President of Chongqing University, Liao Ruijin Vice President of Chongqing University, and relevant leaders and experts attended the opening ceremony.

Zhang Zongyi gave a welcoming speech at the opening ceremony. On behalf of Chongqing University, Zhang Zongyi extended a sincere welcome to the experts, teachers and students. He said that Chongqing University, with the aim of “persist in the quest for knowledge, cultivate talents, support local enterprises and invigorate our national society,” and guided by the national demand, has devoted itself to the development of the times, and actively played the role of leading innovation and serving the development of "double first-class" key universities. Chongqing University is honored to be the organizer of the 13th National College Students’ Social Practice and Science and Technology Competition on Energy Conservation and Emission Reduction. It is hoped that by hosting this competition, we can learn from the advanced experience of other universities, deepen cooperation, and make greater contributions to promoting the construction of national ecological civilization and serving the high-quality development of economy and society.

The Competition is organized by the Office of Higher Education Department of the Ministry of Education. It is closely related to the national energy and environmental policies, combined with the major national needs, implemented the "National Action Plan for Energy Conservation and Emission Reduction", and fully reflect the theme of "energy conservation, emission reduction, and green energy". It is a guiding, exemplary and mass participated national college student competition which has been highly valued by provincial education departments and universities. It is an annual competition with the main purpose of strengthening the awareness of energy conservation and emission reduction of college students and improving their innovative practice ability.

Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, the competition's format has combined online and offline parts. The experts reviewed offline, the contestants made their defense online, and the entries are displayed on the internet. In the three-day finals, more than 600 college students from 112 universities including Tsinghua University, Xi 'an Jiaotong University, Harbin Institute of Technology, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Southeast University and Chongqing University brought 219 innovative projects to compete around the theme, and finally selected 10 special prizes, 91 first prizes, 118 second prizes. 143 universities won excellent organization awards.

On August 30th, the closing ceremony of The 13th National College Students’ Social Practice and Science and Technology Competition on Energy Conservation and Emission Reduction was held at Chongqing University. He Yaling, academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Xi 'an Jiaotong University, Shu Lichun, Party Secretary of Chongqing University, Tong Xinghua, Deputy Party Secretary of Shandong University, Li Zhi, Chairman and General Manager Chongqing CISDI Thermal & Environmental Engineering Co., Ltd., and relevant leaders, experts and representatives from all over the country attended the closing ceremony.

He Yaling delivered a speech at the ceremony. She said that this competition is a high-level, distinctive and highly successful event, despite of the impact of the epidemic and various difficulties. She pointed out that due to the epidemic restriction; Chongqing University adopted innovative ways such as online defense and cloud display, which provided valuable experience for future competitions. He Yaling encouraged the students to take more responsibilities to meet China's "two centennial" goals and move forward on the road of innovation.

He Yaling announced that the 14th National College Students’ Social Practice and Science and Technology Competition on Energy Conservation and Emission Reduction would be hosted by Shandong University. Tong Xinghua took over the competition flag from He Yaling.

Shu Lichun, on behalf of Chongqing University, gave a speech on the ceremony. He expressed his thanks to University Energy and Power Professional Teaching Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education, the competition partner Chongqing CISDI Thermal & Environmental Engineering Co., Ltd., all the experts, teachers, students, all the staff and volunteers who participated in the competition. Shu Lichun hopes that students will strengthen their innovative ability, enjoy the competition process, learn from each other and make progress together, and become innovative talents with all-round development. He also expressed his hope that experts and scholars can often come to Chongqing University for academic exchange. At last, Shu Lichun announced the closing of this competition and wished the next competition a complete success in Shandong University.
