On the afternoon of October 21, the signing ceremony of Cooperation Agreement on Co-building “Intelligent Substrate” Enterprise-University Integrated Cooperative Education Base between Chongqing University and Huawei Technologies was held in Conference Room 213, No. 1 Building, Campus A. Zhang Zongyi, president of CQU, Liao Ruijin, vice president of the University, Zhang Shunmao, senior vice president of Huawei Technologies, Zeng Weisheng, head of the Department of Scientific Research in Universities and Talent Development were present at the event. Directors of organizations including the Teaching Affairs Office of CQU, the Student Career Development and Occupational Guide Center, the Chinese Communist Youth League Committee of CQU, the School of Opto-electronic Engineering, the School of Microelectronics and Communication Engineering, the School of Computer Science, the School of Automation, and the School of Big Data and Software Engineering, and responsible persons of Chengdu Research Institute of Huawei Technologies, the Department of Scientific Research in Universities and Talent Development of Cloud and Computation BG, and Chongqing Innovation Center of Kunpeng Computation Industry Ecology also attended the event. Liao Ruijin presided at the signing ceremony.

CQU-Huawei “Intelligent Substrate” Enterprise-University Integrated Cooperative Education Base is a deep-seated cooperation for training outstanding engineering and scientific and technological talents who are able to adapt to and lead the new round of industrial revolution and technological innovation, and is committed to nurturing top talents that are able to make core technology breakthrough in the future industry. The two parties will carry out joint curriculum development and teaching, extracurricular practice activities, internship and employment in Kunpeng, Atlas and Huawei Cloud and other technical fields, establish innovative and practical education mode, and cooperate to cultivate innovative talents oriented to the future.

Liao Ruijin and Zeng Weisheng signed the agreement on behalf of the two parties as witnessed by all attendants of the event. Zhang Zongyi and Zhang Shunmao officially inaugurated the “Intelligent Substrate” Enterprise-University Integrated Cooperative Education Base on behalf of the two sides.

In his speech, Zhang Shunmao pointed out that Chongqing University has provided Huawei with a large number of talents, and has also given substantial support to Huawei's development. In response to the new demand and situation of economic and social development, both sides should launch more cooperation, establish new training mechanisms, and cultivate more high-level talents that are adapted to the future situation. The purpose of this agreement is to build a sustainable development training mechanism through all-round talent nurturing cooperation, cultivate talents for Kunpeng and Atlas computing industry, and then promote the upgrading of overall level of the industry, and meet the needs of digital development of government and enterprises.

Zhang Zongyi stressed in his speech that the deep-seated cooperation between the two sides and their efforts to co-build the “Intelligent Substrate” Enterprise-University Integrated Cooperative Education Base were of great significance. He gave a brief introduction to the school-running mission, development history and “Double-First-Rate” construction of Chongqing University, with emphasis laid on the ideas and thoughts on reform of talent cultivation in the future. He pointed out that information technologies represented by 5G, AI and cloud computation were strategic technologies that would shape our future, and Huawei was the pioneer and leading role in these areas. Zhang expressed his hope that the two sides would take co-building of the “Intelligent Substrate” Enterprise-University Integrated Cooperative Education Base as an opportunity to consolidate the talent cultivation cooperation between the two, build the industry and talent ecology based on the core and key technologies in the information technology field and provide high-standard talents and intelligence support for high-quality development of the industry.

After that, the two sides had discussion over the introduction of Huawei’s resources into the undergraduate teaching, use of Huawei Cloud platforms and combination with course teaching and other matters. Li Zhengliang, head of the Teaching Affairs Office of CQU said that they would concentrate efforts on implementation of the cooperation projects based on the agreement reached between the two sides.
