Flag·Voice of Youth co-created by CQU begins broadcasting

The 100-eposide TV program named Flag·Voice of Youth, co-created by Chongqing University, began broadcasting on the evening of June 14, after more than 1 year of intense planning, shooting and production. This program represents the struggling history of Communist Party of China in the past 100 years from the perspective of 100 college students, and shows their unshakable faith in the lead of the CPC.

As part of the celebration of the 100th Anniversary of the CPC, the planning of the 100-eposide TV program named Flag·Voice of Youth started in 2019. Its production kicked off officially in September 2020 at the site of the 1st National Congress of the CPC.

The program was co-planned and co-created by China Educational Television Association in collaboration of a total of 35 organizations, including China Educational Television (ETV) and 16 provincial and capital education TV stations, 16 colleges and universities like Tsinghua University and Peking University, and People's Education Press and People's Education Electronic & Audiovisual Press under the guide of Seventh Research Department, Institute of Party History and Literature of the CPC Central Committee and the News Office of the Ministry of Education, with the support of more than 100 colleges and universities throughout the country. Nearly 600 people have participated in the production and planning of the program.

This TV program unfolds like a “long scroll”. With the history of the Communist Party of China, the history of new China, the history of reform and opening up and the history of socialist development as the main line, the TV program shows the glorious course, great achievements and valuable experience of the Communist Party of China in the past 100 years. Based on story-telling and truth-telling, the program probes into the rich ideological connotation behind the party history stories and the lofty ideals, beliefs and pursuits of the Chinese Communists, and aims to guide the young Chinese students to understand why the Communist Party of China is competent, why Marxism works and why socialism with Chinese characteristics is good, and stimulate the young Chinese students to hold a firm belief and faith in the CPC, inherit the red revolutionary gene, and practice the original mission of the CPC.

While the 100 episodes are properly coordinated and correlated with rich content, each episode of the program has its distinct theme. This TV program includes a look back on the unforgettable memories such as the founding of the Communist Party of China, the Agrarian Revolution, the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, the War of Liberation, and great figures and their stories during the period of socialist construction. In addition, it also includes representation of the vibrant look of China during the period of reform and opening up, as well as the remarkable achievements made by China in construction of socialism with Chinese characteristics.

The 100-eposide TV program named Flag·Voice of Youth has unique characteristics and its target audience are young college students. In this TV program, a total of 100 young Chinese college students told the stories of the history of CPC, expressed their firm belief as Chinese Communists and shared their feelings and understanding of the history of CPC in places such as memorial halls, museums, memorial sites, red ruins. This TV program shows the spiritual outlook of contemporary young Chinese college students and their willingness to follow the lead of CPC and commitment to rejuvenation of the great nation.

The TV program tells stories in diary style with young college students as the first persons, an innovation of major programs on revolutionary history. It is the first TV program about the party history told by college students in the form of 100 diaries, and reflects how the college students think about the 100-year history of the Communist Party of China. Many college students acclaimed after participating in the production of the program that: “As part of the history of the party, I had come to a keener appreciation of how ‘revolutionary ideal is more important than anything’ and understood the difficulties they had encountered in establishment of red political power, the founding of new China and the construction of socialism with Chinese characteristics.”

It is reported that the production of the TV 100-eposide TV program named Flag·Voice of Youth took more than 1 year, with nearly 600 people participating in its planning and production. The Seventh Research Department, Institute of Party History and Literature of the CPC Central Committee and the News Office of the Ministry of Education appointed experts to guide and control the topic selection, content and broadcasting of the TV program. China Educational Television (ETV), provincial and capital education TV stations, colleges and universities selected backbone forces to participate in the production. Throughout the entire process of production, including option planning, topic selection and field shooting, they tackled various difficulties and obstacles. The participants said they felt excited, proud and fulfilled.

As co-planning and co-creating organizations, Chongqing University and Innovation and Development Center of Ideological and Political Work in Colleges and Universities of the Ministry of Education (Chongqing University) created two episodes of the TV program, Chongqing Negotiations and Under the Gele Mountain. The two episodes will be broadcast at the end of June and in the beginning of July respectively as greeting to the 100th Anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China.
