Recently, the World Journal Clout Index Report (2020 STM) (The WJCI Report), a journal assessment report developed by Institute of Scientific and Technical Information of China in collaboration with other organizations, was released. According to the Report, five journals of Chongqing University were among the list. These 5 journals are respectively Journal of Chongqing University, Journal of Civil and Environmental Engineering (Chinese and English), Chinese Journal of Underground Space and Engineering, Journal of Magnesium and Alloys (English) and China Pharmacy.
The proportion of journals from different countries included in WJCI Report is determined based on 4 factors, including R&D input, output of scientific research papers, number of scientific researchers, and level and scale of journals of different countries. Totally 14,287 outstanding journals with the greatest regional representativeness, disciplinary representativeness and industrial representativeness were selected from more than 60,000 active scientific and academic journals from all over the world. The World Journal Clout Index, a comprehensive assessment index determined according to World Academic Journal Clout Index (WAJCI) based on citation data and Web Index (WI), was used for the report. Specifically, 1,426 scientific and technological journal of China were included in the report, with an average WJCI index of 1.185. The included journals are believed to be the most outstanding journals with regional representativeness and disciplinary representativeness.
This report is based on the new journal assessment system established by China Association for Science and Technology. The purpose is to integrate more Chinese ideas and Chinese wisdom into the academic assessment of the world, promote fair assessment, homogeneous and equivalent use of scientific and technological journals. The inclusion of 5 journals in the Report shows the international influence of CQU journals. This will be a new starting point of the included journals to become even better first-rate academic journals and drive the high-quality development of academic journals.
