The “Linuo-paradigma Cup” National University Student Social Practice and Science Contest on Energy Saving & Emission Reduction was held at Shandong University from August 26 through 29, 2021. After online and offline appraisal, five pieces of works of Chongqing University made to the final. During the final, the five pieces of works of Chongqing University went through competition steps including on-site display and defense in groups, and eventually won five national first prizes. Furthermore, Chongqing University students also won 5 third national prizes. In particular, the students of the School of Energy and Power Engineering alone pocketed 4 first prizes and 3 third prizes, another outstanding achievement at the event.
Since the launch of the 14th National University Student Social Practice and Science Contest on Energy Saving & Emission Reduction in March 2021, totally 5,201 pieces of effective works submitted by 514 colleges and universities from 31 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions of China were received, breaking 3 records since 2008 when the event was held the first time. Specifically, the number of participating students topped 30,000 for the first time; the number of participating works exceeded 5,000 for the first time and the number of participating colleges and universities exceeded 500 for the first time. This indicates that the event is gaining influence. After review and voting at the Expert Review Meeting, totally 1,035 pieces of works were given the third prize of the 14th National University Student Social Practice and Science Contest on Energy Saving & Emission Reduction. A total of 244 pieces of works from 110 colleges and universities, including Tsinghua University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Zhejiang University and Chongqing University got to the final, breaking the record of the highest number of works and participants that made it to the meeting review and the final.
In response to the important initiative of the “Nation of Energy Savers Initiative”, the National University Student Social Practice and Science Contest on Energy Saving & Emission Reduction takes “energy conservation, emission reduction and green energy” as its theme. The event focuses mainly on the national policy related to energy and environment, and actively responds to the major development need of the country and the region. With joint efforts of the colleges and universities, and direct guide of the Ministry of Education, more and more students are participating in the event, expanding its coverage and social influence. It has become an important platform that is able to facilitate entrepreneurship and innovation talents in colleges and universities.
