CQU-run Nano Materials Science included in Level T2 of hierarchical directory of top scientific and technological journals

Chinese Materials Research Society released the “hierarchical directory of top scientific and technological journals-material science: comprehensive disciplines” the other day. According to the list, the English journal, Nano Materials Science (NMS), run by Chongqing University, is included as a Level T2 journal.

In order to implement the spirit of the Opinions on Deepening the Reform of First-rate Scientific and Technological Journals in the Cultivation Community jointly printed and issued by the China Association for Science and Technology, Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Science and Technology, and promote the construction of an evaluation system for scientific and technological journals adapted to the powerful nations of science and technology in the world, Chinese Materials Research Society acted as the leading organization in selection of the “hierarchical directory of top scientific and technological journals-material science: comprehensive disciplines” according to the unified deployment of China Association for Science and Technology. The directory included a total of 371 journals at home and abroad, including 77 journals of Zone T1, 176 of Zone T2, and 118 of Zone T3. The journals of each discipline are further divided into Levels T1, T2 and T3. A T1 journal is one that has reached or is about to reach the level of world top journals. A T2 journal is a well-known international journal and a T3 journal is a high-standard journal recognized by the industry.

Since the founding of NMS, it has seen inspiring development. The inclusion of the journal as a T2 journal shows that its academic quality and influence has been internationally recognized. In the future, efforts shall be concentrated on the international, brand-oriented and digital construction of the journal, so as to build into a world-first-rate journal.

NMS was officially founded in March 2019 as a quarterly journal, and is run by Chongqing University, and published by KeAi. Access to full articles of the journal is provided at Elsevier ScienceDirect. Academician Lyu Jian of City University of Hong Kong serves as the editor in chief of the journal. By now, it has published 10 volumes. It has published articles on original research results, including research findings of teams led by Nobel Laureates in Physics: Academician Konstantin Novoselov, Academician Lyu Jian, Academician RuslanZ Valiev, Academician Lu Ke, Academician Cheng Huiming, Academician Oliver G. Schmidt, Professor Sun Luyi (University of Connecticut, USA), Professor Lyu Li (National University of Singapore), Zhao Huijun (Griffith University, Australia), Professor Madhavi Srinivasan (Nanyang Technological University, Singapore), Andres Castellanos Gomez (Institute of Materials Science, Madrid, Spain), Researcher Guo Shaojun (Peking University), Professor Zhang Qiang (Tsinghua University), Researcher Peng Zhangquan (Institute of Applied Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences), Professor Liu Tianxi (Donghua University), and Professors Hu Ning, Fu Shaoyun, Huang Xiaoxu, Wei Zidong and Zhang Yuxin of Chongqing University.

The total downloads of NMS have reached more than 450,000 (as of June 2021, according to ScienceDirect database), and the articles have been cited by nearly 500 SCIE journals from 85 countries, with an average citations per article of 13.208. The immediate factor of influence is 8.0 (as of September 14, 2021). It has been included as a core journal source of CSCD, and is included in Scopus, CAS, DOAJ and INSPEC. It is supported by the Earmarked Funds for Publishing of Chongqing, and has won honors including the Outstanding Scientific and Technological Journal Run by Colleges and Universities of China, Well-known Academic Journal Run by Colleges and Universities of Chongqing and the New Journal Award of KeAi.
