CQU wins gold award in the 1st China Post-doctoral Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition

The 1st China Post-doctoral Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, co-sponsored by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security and the People’s Government of Guangdong Province, was being held in Foshan City, Guangdong Province from December 18 to 20, 2021. Zhai Fuqiang, a current post-doctor of Chongqing University, stood out of the 83 projects in the new material area of the Innovation Group and claimed the gold award (first place).

Since the launch of the event in May 2021, various units of Chongqing University have been making mobilizing and organizing efforts. Totally 35 projects were submitted. Particularly, 6 projects (Zhai Fuqiang from the School of Materials Science and Engineering/Chongqing Materials Research Institute Co., Ltd., Shi Jinquan from the School of Civil Engineering, Zhou Shangbo from the School of Environment and Ecology, Li Mingyan from the School of Computer Science, Sun Potao from the School of Electrical Engineering and Liu Wenchuan from Resources and Safety Engineering) participated in the final on behalf of Chongqing. The finalists made full preparation and achieved gratifying results in the Final. At the same time, Chongqing University also participated in the exhibition of post-doctoral work achievements, national post-doctoral talent exchange and match-making and transformation of scientific and technological achievements held as part of the event.

The Competition is the national post-doctoral innovation and entrepreneurship competition of the largest scale, highest level and widest coverage held in the 36 years since implementation of the post-doctoral system of China. There are four groups, namely, the Innovation Competition, Entrepreneurship Competition, Overseas (Foreign) Competition and Ranking Revealing Competition. There are 8 professional areas, including new-generation technology, high-end equipment manufacturing and new materials. Under the lead of provincial and municipal organizations and related organizations, more than 5,000 team projects and 24,000 participants signed up for the competition. About 1,400 team projects made it to the national final. There were 286 participating projects in Chongqing, ranking the 4th place nationwide. After 3 rounds of fierce competition, 47 candidates and 30 projects stood out and participated in the national final on behalf of Chongqing.

It is reported that Chongqing University will further implement the spirit of the Talent Working Conference of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, concentrate more efforts on post-doctoral innovation and entrepreneurship, so as to encourage more young people to play a pivotal and leading role and contribute to the construction of a “Double-First-Rate” university.
