On March 15, 2022, Chongqing University signed an agreement on the "3+1" combined bachelor’s/master’s degree program with the University of Bristol on a live video call. Liu Hanlong, Managing Vice President of Chongqing University, and Agnes Nairn, Global Engagement Academic Lead of the University of Bristol, attended the ceremony virtually. Liu Hanlong and Agnes Nairn delivered a speech and signed the agreement on behalf of each side.
In his speech, Liu Hanlong expressed thanks to the good-quality project resources provided by the University of Bristol for CQU students, and gave a brief introduction to the latest progress and major achievements made by CQU in construction of the world-first-rate university. Liu pointed out that Chongqing University had been selected as one of the universities under the "Double-First-Rate" Construction Program in the second round of selection. Its disciplines, including mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and civil engineering, were brought under the "Double-First-Rate" in the second round. According to Liu, Chongqing University will remain devoted to enhancing its talent nurturing and scientific research capacities, increasing its international influence and expediting the construction of a world-first-rate university. Liu added that even during the outbreak of the pandemic, Chongqing University was still making efforts to boost its international development. CQU has been taking "local internationalization" measures such "International Academic Courses for Postgraduate Students (online)" to promote material cooperation with world-first-rate universities and scientific research institutions. He expressed his hope that the two universities would build on this cooperation agreement, deepen cooperation between the two, and seek opportunities for material cooperation in advantageous disciplines.
Agnes Nairn said in his speech that the two universities had similar disciplines and a solid foundation for scientific research cooperation. According to Agnes Nairn, the University of Bristol has been attaching great importance to cooperation with CQU. He expressed his hope to deepen and expand the cooperation with CQU in the future, and promote establishment of a strategic partnership. Agnes Nairn said that he was looking forward to seeing the first CQU students go and study at the University of Bristol.
The two sides signed the cooperation agreement in a harmonious atmosphere.
