The prize awarding ceremony of the 14th Guanghua Engineering Science and Technology Prize was held in Beijing on May 30, 2022. A total of 40 experts were given the Prize, including CQU alumni Liu Qingyou and Zhang Kun.
Liu Qingyou obtained his bachelor's degree at Southwest Petroleum University. He started to study for a master's degree from 1989 at the School of Mechanical Engineering of Chongqing University, majoring in precision manufacturing. In 1991, Liu obtained his master's degree. From 1997 to 1999, Liu worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the State Key Laboratory of Mechanical Transmissions. From June 2010 to August 2014, Liu served as a standing member of the CPC Committee of Southwest Petroleum University, Vice President of the University, Chairman of the Academic Committee of the Drill Laboratory and academic leader of the state key laboratory. From September 2014 to November 2018, Liu served as Deputy Secretary of CPC Committee of Xihua University, President of the University, Chairman of the Academic Committee of the Drill Laboratory and academic leader of the state key laboratory. Since December 2018, Liu has been serving as a member and a standing member of the CPC Committee of Chengdu University of Technology, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Committee, President of the University, Chairman of the Academic Committee of the Drill Bit Laboratory and academic leader of the state key laboratory.
Liu Qingyou is mainly engaged in research of theory, experiment, product and application of petroleum drill bits and equipment. He has directed more than 10 projects, including National Science and Technology Major Projects, projects under the National 973 Program, projects under the National 863 Program and those supported by the National Natural Science Foundation. Liu has published more than 180 papers, and 6 monographs and textbooks and has been granted more than 40 invention patents (4 international patents) and 28 utility model patents. Liu has won 1 National Special Prize (Collective Prize) for Progress in Science and Technology, 2 National Second Prizes for Progress in Science and Technology, 6 first prizes of the provincial and ministerial level, and 3 second prizes of the provincial and ministerial level; the First National "Innovation Competition" Award, the title of "National Outstanding Scientific and Technological Worker", an expert entitled to government allowance of the State Council, the Sun Yueqi Youth Science and Technology Award, a top talent of Sichuan Province, the Outstanding Innovation Award of Sichuan Province, an academic and technical leader of Sichuan Province, Youth Science and Technology Award of Sichuan Province and the "Prize for Progress in Science and Technology" of Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation.
CQU alumnus Zhang Kun graduated from Chongqing University in 1982 (the former Chongqing Civil Engineering Institute) and is currently serving as a standing member of the CPC Committee and Chairman, Deputy General Manager and Chief Engineer of China Construction Third Engineering Bureau Group Co., Ltd.
Zhang has devoted himself to science and technology for 40 years and has always concentrated his efforts on scientific and technological innovation. He has worked hard in the front line of building construction, and was involved in construction of a number of landmark projects such as Shanghai World Financial Center, the new building of CCTV, and China Zun. Zhang has created a number of core technologies in the field of super high-rise buildings and complex steel structure construction. Zhang has won 4 National Second Prizes for Progress in Science and Technology, 13 first science and technology prizes of the ministerial and provincial level, 2 golden awards for invention patent of the ministerial and provincial level and 2 China Patent Excellence Awards. He was entitled to special allowance of the State Council, and was successively given the title of National Advanced Individual of Progress in Science and Technology and Technological Innovation in the Construction Industry, the Special Award of the General Manager of the Science and Technology Award of China State Construction Engineering Corporation, the model worker of Hubei Province, the National May Day Labor Medal, and the Second National Innovation Competition Award.
Zhang directed the tackling of engineering technology problems of Leishenshan Hospital and Huoshenshan Hospital in Wuhan, and set the "Chinese speed" in the fight against COVID-19. He participated in innovation of construction mode of Xiong'an New Area, directed the tackling of scientific and technological problems of Xiong'an Civic Service Center ("No. 1 Landmark of Xiong'an"), and created what is called "Xiong'an Mode" and "Xiong'an Quality" in project construction; Zhang also directed the technical innovation of China Zun Building in Beijing, and set the world record of the most rapid construction of high-rise buildings with height above 500m. He originally developed the "intelligent construction equipment integration platform for super high-rise buildings" and other major construction equipment for super high-rise buildings, and greatly improved the brand image of "Built in China".
Guanghua Engineering Science and Technology Prize was set up by China Guanghua Foundation, and is hosted by Chinese Academy of Engineering. The Prize is selected once every 2 years, and it has been held for 14 times. Guanghua Engineering Science and Technology Prize is awarded to Chinese experts in engineering science and technology in recognition of their significant contribution to the field of engineering science and technology and engineering management and their outstanding achievements. It is hailed as the "top prize in China's engineering community", and has greatly inspired the initiative and creativity of engineers and scientists of China in research, development and application of engineering science and technology.
