CQU holds the 6th "Children of Jialing" International Organizations Talent Training Camp

 The 6th "Children of Jialing" International Organizations Talent Training Camp was being held by Chongqing University by virtual means from July 1 to 2, 2022. Nearly 600 students from 25 colleges and universities, including Chongqing University, Southwest University, Southwest University of Political Science & Law, Chongqing Medical University, Chongqing Normal University, Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Chongqing Jiaotong University, Chongqing Technology and Business University, Sichuan International Studies University, and Yangtze Normal University participated in the Camp.

At the opening ceremony of the Camp, Feng Yedong, Deputy Secretary of CPC CQU Committee, extended his warm welcome and sincere gratitude to the lecturing experts and students participating in the Camp. Feng encouraged the students to cherish great aspiration, adapt their ideal to the historical course of world development, and set the ambition to "secure peace for the world". Feng expressed his expectation for the students to play a pioneering role in global governance and always keeps in mind the Chinese dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. The world is now facing a turbulent situation that's not seen for a hundred years. Students are expected to take on the heavy responsibility, enhance mutual trust and spread Chinese ideas. Zhang Hongchun, Director of the Student Career Development and Employment Guidance Center of Chongqing University, pointed out that the "Children of Jialing" International Organizations Talent Training Camp is organized to help patriotic, ambitious and outstanding students to attain self-improvement, participate in global governance and join international organizations.



Song Yunfu, former Head of the Foreign Affairs Department of the Ministry of Health and former Coordinator of the UN Reform and Partnership Programme in the WHO, delivered a theme lecture titled "a discussion about taking office in international organizations from the perspective of fight against COVID-19". Liu Zhixian, former Deputy Head of the Arms Control Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Head of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons Outreach Department, delivered a lecture titled "UN and global governance". Chen Ken, former Director of the Pacific Islands Agency of WHO and the Chief Representative of the World Health Organization in the Pacific Islands, shared his experience and gains in working in international organizations.

Teachers of this year's Camp are among the top ones in their fields. Dr. Zou Hongjin from the School of Foreign Languages and Cultures elaborated on the international document writing. Xu Jun, Secretary General of the Foundation, gave an introduction to the foreign affairs etiquette taking as example his experience in foreign affairs management of more than 12 years. Associate Professor Zhong Zhun from the Institute for Advanced Studies in Humanities and Social Science of Chongqing University shared his in-depth insights into the international relation today. Zhu Wanlin, an alumna of Chongqing University, explained the different ways to apply for internship in international organizations.

Tang Yanzhu, a student of Chongqing University, said that by participating in the Camp, she gained further understanding of the importance of patriotism for young students nowadays. She added that the young students should reconsider their present time and future and shoulder a mission. Yang Binyuan, a student from Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications, said that young students should try their best to develop into an inter-disciplinary talent of high quality, and do their part in helping China gain more international influence and participate in global governance.


"Children of Jialing, setting sail for a brilliant future ". Chongqing University has organized the "Children of Jialing" International Organizations Talent Training Camp for 6 straight years. Experts and scholars with considerable influence in the international organization field are invited to give theme lectures. Salon share activities, simulation of UN interview and other activities are held by both virtual and physical means to enlighten students' thought, broaden their vision, enhance their ability, and provide an opportunity and platform for students to apply for internship or position in international organizations.
