To commemorate the 118th birthday of Comrade Deng Xiaoping, the Central Committee of the Communist Young League, All-China Federation of Youth, All-China Studies' Federation and the National Permanent Standing Commission-Young Pioneers of China, NPSC-YPC printed and released the Decision on Issuing the 13th China Adolescents Science and Technology Innovation Award the other day. A total of 89 college, middle school and primary school students from across the country were given the Award in recognition of their outstanding spirit of exploration, practical ability and innovative potential. Zhang Bingfei, a grade-2018 undergraduate student of the School of Electrical Engineering of Chongqing University, won the 13th China Adolescents Science and Technology Innovation Award. Zhang is the only college student that was given this Award in southwest China. Chongqing University is the only university in Chongqing that has won the China Adolescents Science and Technology Innovation Award in 2 straight years.
The "China Adolescents Science and Technology Innovation Award" is the top award for science and technology innovation of adolescents in China and aims to guide the adolescents to study and implement Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, commemorate Comrade Deng Xiaoping's great achievements and encourage the young people to be part of the new journey of building a modern socialist country in an all-round way. The selection of China Adolescents Science and Technology Innovation Award follows a strict review procedure and involves various rounds. A total of 9 primary school students, 19 junior middle school students, 30 senior middle school students and 31 college students won the Award.
Zhang Bingfei has great interest in innovation and entrepreneurship, and has been devoted to serving the country with science and technology. As an engineering student, Zhang took the lead in setting up an inter-school and interdisciplinary student team made up of students of electrical engineering, economics and management, management science and other disciplines. The team has initiated projects under the National College Students' Innovation and Entrepreneurship Training Program and the Chongqing "Excellent Teachers Helping Entrepreneurship Projects" Program, carried out related research on connection equipment. International invention patents, a number of national invention patents and many software copyrights have been granted/disclosed for the core technologies.
The team led by Zhang Bingfei claimed the Special Award in the 17th "Challenge Cup" National College Students Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Contest sponsored by the Central Committee of the Communist Young League, China Association for Science and Technology, the Ministry of Education, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and All-China Studies' Federation, and the Gold Award in the 9th "Chuangqingchun" China Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition (Special Award for Science and Technology Innovation), and the first prize in Chongqing Innovation Method Competition. As an individual, Zhang Bingfei has won honorable titles including the Outstanding Graduate of Chongqing University, the Outstanding Volunteer of Chongqing, and a Model Figure for Employment and Entrepreneurship of College Universities in Chongqing.
It is reported that the "China Adolescents Science and Technology Innovation Award" was founded in 2004 on the 100th birthday of Comrade Deng Xiaoping with approval of the Central Committee of the Communist Young League. The family of Deng Xiaoping respected his last wish and donated all his income from contribution fee before his death. The money is used to set up the China Adolescents Science and Technology Innovation Awarding Funds by the Central Committee of the Communist Young League, All-China Federation of Youth, All-China Studies' Federation, and the National Permanent Standing Commission-Young Pioneers of China, NPSC-YPC and used for selection of "China Adolescents Science and Technology Innovation Award".
