On February 17, the 2021 and 2022 Annual Awarding Ceremony of Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation was held in Beijing. The 2021 and 2022 Ho Leung Ho Lee Prize for Scientific and Technological Progress was given to 112 extraordinary scientific and technological workers. CQU's alumnus Feng Xue is named in the list of winners.
Upon invitation of Chongqing University, Professor Feng Xue paid an exchange visit to CQU and attended the Engineering Science Frontier Forum.
Feng Xue was a student of Chongqing University from 1994 to 1998, majoring in engineering mechanics (under an undergraduate program). He is now a tenured professor of Tsinghua University, Director of Center for Flexible Electronics Technology, Tsinghua University, President of Institute of Flexible Electronics Technology of Tsinghua, Zhejiang, and Director of the Applied Mechanics Laboratory of the Ministry of Education. Feng Xue has been engaged in research on solid mechanics and flexible electronics. He was the first to create the design basic theory and core manufacturing technology of flexible integrated devices based on mechanics principle. Furthermore, Feng successfully overcame difficulties in wafer level chip thinning technology, stress control and flexible packaging technology, and established the first flexible integrated device pilot manufacturing line and standard test certification system in the world. The flexible integrated devices, flexible wearable devices and flexible array antennas he has developed are now used by a number of key organizations. Feng Xue has published more than 260 papers in journals such as Nature Materials, Science Advances and National Science Review, was granted more than 190 national patents for invention, was given the title of National 973 Chief Scientist, Excellent Young Scientists Fund, the 15th China Youth Science and Technology Award, the 7th National Outstanding Scientific and Technological Worker, and the 24th Qiushi Outstanding Youth Award of China Association for Science and Technology. Feng has won 3 first provincial and ministerial first awards and 2 first awards of societies as the first person in charge.
Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation was founded in 1994 by patriotic financiers Ho Sin-hang, Leung Kau Kui, Ho Tim, and Quo-wei Lee to encourage China's outstanding scientists and serve the modernization of the country. There is the "Prize for Scientific and Technological Progress", the "Prize for Scientific and Technological Achievement" and the "Prize for Scientific and Technological Innovation" (including 3 sub-categories, Youth Innovation Prize, Industrial Innovation Prize and Regional Innovation Prize). Each year, no more than 5 winners of the Prize for Scientific and Technological Achievement, and no more than 65 winners of the Prize for Scientific and Technological Progress and Prize for Scientific and Technological Innovation are selected. In the past 29 years, totally 1,526 outstanding scientific and technological workers have won the Prize. The Prize has become a successful example of science and technology prizes founded by non-government founders and played a positive role in stimulating China's scientific, technological development vitality and training independent innovation talents.
