On May 21, the finals of the 2023 National Chinese Culture Knowledge Contest for University Students from Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan sponsored by the Office of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs of the Ministry of Education ended in Fudan University. The team of Chongqing University, formed by the undergraduates of 2022 including Yu Hongyu majoring in Business Administration, Liao Peizhu from the School of Foreign Languages and Gu Guoliang from the Meishi Film Academy, stood out from the teams of nearly 200 universities participating in the contest and pocketed the national second prize. In the meantime, Chongqing University won the Best Organization Award and the Best Instructor Award.
This contest lasted for two months, and was composed of campus preliminaries, semi-finals and national finals. Chongqing University attached great importance to this contest and actively mobilized and organized the students of Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and mainland to participate in the contest. Soon after, three outstanding students were selected to form the team through the campus preliminaries. Then, Mr. Si Wei from the Liberal Arts College acted as the instructor of the team, and some outstanding students majoring in Broadcasting and Hosting from Meishi Film Academy were invited to give recitation training to the contestants. On May 14, the CQU's team ranked first in the group with a total score of 1,597.5 points and advanced from the semi-finals to the national finals.
The national finals were conducted in three links: required questions, quick response and subjective topic. The topics of the required and quick response questions cover many fields of Chinese culture, examining the knowledge and cultural accomplishment of the participating students from historical culture, literature and art, traditional customs, etc. The subjective topic focused on poetry recitation and the participating teams drew lots to decide the contents. The Organizing Committee gave the teams about one hour to prepare and then these teams made impromptu recitations. After nearly a day of fierce competition in the semi-finals and finals, the CQU's team made outstanding performance and won the second prize.
It is reported that this National Chinese Culture Knowledge Contest for University Students from Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan sponsored by the Office of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs of the Ministry of Education and organized by Fudan University attracted the participation of nearly 200 universities across the country. At last, the team of Jilin University won the first prize, the teams of Chongqing University and Beijing Language and Culture University carried off the second prize, and the teams of University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Nanjing Normal University and Hebei University were awarded the third prize.
