Recently, Professor Liu Bingsheng from the School of Public Policy and Administration, Chongqing University, as the first author, published a research achievement "Encourage or impede? The relationship between trust in government and production in Public Management Review, a top periodical of public management, with JCR impact factors ranking in the top 3 among SSCI periodicals of public management. This paper is accomplished by Professor Liu and Lin Sen, a postgraduate student under his supervision (a postgraduate of 2022 in the School of Public Policy and Administration, Chongqing University and currently a doctoral student in the Department of Politics, University of Exeter, UK) as well as the doctoral student He Siqi and Associate Professor Zhang Jinfeng of the School of Public Policy and Administration. Such an achievement is another important academic breakthrough made by Liu's team in the flagship periodical of public management in recent years.
This paper focuses on whether the government trust can promote citizens' participation in cooperative production of public service and further reveals the specific mechanism of government trust on cooperative production. Based on the four typical urban governance situations of park maintenance, epidemic prevention and control, traffic control and garbage sorting, 3 sub-studies are designed combined with questionnaire survey and questionnaire experiment to discuss the boundary conditions and potential paths of government trust in cooperative production. According to the research results, there is a stable positive causal relationship between government trust and cooperative production, which provides solid empirical evidence for related theoretical disputes to some extent and provides new ideas for mobilizing policy intervention in cooperative production.
This is another important research achievement made by Liu's team in the field of cooperative governance based on their previous publications in international public management periodicals such as International Public Management Journal and Journal of Public Policy, which is of great significance to the theory and practice of global cooperative governance.
