Factor of influence of CQU's Journal of Magnesium and Alloys ranked No. 1 among competing journals

On June 28, 2023, Clarivate released the Journal Citation Reports of 2022 (JCR 2022). The Journal of Magnesium and Alloys (JMA), an international journal run by Chongqing University, with Academician Pan Fusheng as the Editor in Chief has seen a rapid increase in the number of published papers. Its influence factor also increased from 11.862 in 2022 to 17.6 (IF: 17.6), and ranked the first place among all SCI-indexed academic journals on metallurgy and metallurgical engineering. JMA has now grown into one of the most influential academic journals on metallurgy and metallurgical engineering in the world and has greatly enhanced the international academic influence of Chongqing University.

JMA was founded by the National Engineering Research Center for Magnesium Alloys of Chongqing University in collaboration with Chinese Committee for Magnesium and Its Application in 2013. Professor Peng Xiaodong of Chongqing University serves as the Executive Associator Editor. Members of the Editorial Board include well-known experts in magnesium alloy from 23 countries including the USA, Australia, Canada, Germany, Japan, and Russia, among which there are world-renowned scientists like fellows of the National Academy of Engineering of the USA, fellows of Canadian Academy of Engineering, Chairman of International Magnesium Association, as well as Editors in Chief of international journals such as Acta Materialia and Bioactive Materials. Since its founding, JMA has received substantial support from experts and researchers in the field of magnesium alloy at home and abroad. World well-known magnesium alloy research institutions have published a number of high-standard papers in JMA. Both the academic quality and academic influence of JMA have been improving rapidly. By now, JMA has been included in a number of international key databases including SCI, EI and Scopus, and has become a journal in JCR Zone 1 and CAS Zone 1. JMA was selected as one of the leading journals under the "Excellence Action Program for Science and Technology Journals of China" (22 journals in total) in 2019. It is the only leading international journal of China in the field of metal materials and metallurgy.

As a strategic new material, magnesium alloy, has been under the spotlight. It has broad development and application perspective in the context of carbon neutralization and peak carbon dioxide emissions. Since its founding, with strong support of Chongqing University, China Association for Science and Technology, Chongqing Press and Publication Bureau, the academic world at home and abroad, and KeAi Publishing, JMA has seen rapid and high-quality development. The Editorial Department of JMA will keep working hard. Sticking to its mission to become academically leading, nurture talents, bolster industrial development and serve society, and drawing on the power of professional discipline, it will build a JMA academic community in collaboration with research scholars in the field of magnesium and magnesium alloy, so as to further strengthen the international and brand-based construction of the journal, and enhance its international influence. Ultimately, it will grow into an international brand journal, contribute to the "Double-First-Rate" construction of Chongqing University, and expedite the construction of China's world-first-rate science and technology journals.
