Three CQU alumni honored with 1st "National Engineer Award"

On December 4, the Committee Office of the Award System of Medals and Honorary Titles of the CPC and the PRC issued a public notice on the candidates for the National Outstanding Engineer and the National Outstanding Engineer Team. After comprehensive assessment and overall consideration, 83 individuals, including Ding Wenhong, were elected as the candidates for National Outstanding Engineer, and 50 teams, including the 5G Standards and Industrial Innovation Team, were identified as the candidates for the National Outstanding Engineer Team.

The "National Engineer Award" was established for the first time this year, aiming at encouraging the engineering technicians to work hard, forge ahead and make greater contributions to building a socialist modern country in all respects and promoting the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation in an all-round way. According to incomplete statistics, three alumni of Chongqing University, Li Xianguang, Lin Mingzhi and He Jianhua, won the first National Engineer Award.

Holding the titles of D.E., professor-level senior engineer, chief engineer of CMEIM and guest professor of Chongqing University, Li Xianguang was awarded the bachelor's degree in Mechanical Manufacturing by Chongqing University in July 1988. Then, in 2003 and 2012, he received the master's degree and doctoral degree respectively from Chongqing University. He was successively elected as an expert entitled to special allowance of the State Council and given the titles of National Advanced Scientific and Technological Workers, Chongqing Scientific Technology Innovation Leading Talents of the First Batch, and Chongqing Academic Technology Leaders.

He has been engaged in the research and product (system) development of CNC machine tools, automation, green and intelligent solutions and system integration for a long time and has undertaken more than 30 national and provincial scientific research projects, including National "863" High-tech Program, National Intelligent Manufacturing Major Projects, National Science and Technology Major Projects (04 Project). In addition, he has also realized the successful development and industrial production of more than 50 kinds of high-grade, green, precision and efficient gear processing machine tools and intelligent gear processing production lines that have reached the international leading or advanced level. He has won 2 second prizes for National Award for Scientific and Technological Progress (both ranking second), 10 provincial and ministerial scientific and technological awards, and 1 Patent Excellence Award of China and has published more than 10 papers, obtained 37 authorized invention patents, and presided over or participated in the formulation (revision) of over 20 national and industrial standards.

Lin Mingzhi received a bachelor's degree in Mining Machinery from Chongqing University in July 1986 and a master's degree in Mechanical Manufacturing from Chongqing University in July 1997. He is a CPC member and a professor-level senior engineer and currently serves as the chief engineer and director of Global R&D Center in LIUGONG.

He has successively taken charge of the research institute of LIUGONG's two core products, excavators and loaders. Under his leadership, LIUGONG's R&D team has successfully developed China's first 5G intelligent remote-controlled loader and driverless roller in recent years. In addition, a new generation of green pure electric loaders and excavators have been launched on the market, especially that the electric loader 856H-EV can be used under the Sichuan-Tibet Railway working conditions due to its performance advantages such as safety, environmental protection, strong power, high efficiency and energy-saving characteristics, which leads the development direction of industry technology.

He Jianhua, who graduated from Electrical Engineering of Chongqing University in 1984, is the chief expert of Dongfang Electric Wind Power Co., Ltd. He has been given the titles of Outstanding Innovative Talent of Sichuan Province and Sichuan Provincial Academic and Technological Leaders and is entitled to the special allowance of the State Council. He is mainly engaged in the design and development of large-scale hydraulic generators and technical management of large-scale motor manufacturing enterprises. In 2021-2022, he was awarded as the "National Outstanding Entrepreneur" and won multiple scientific and technological progress awards.

He once undertaken the development of the generator sets for the Three Gorges Water Hub Project and won the special prize for National Award for Scientific and Technological Progress. He also led Dongfang Electric to step into the development frontier of global hydropower equipment with Baihetan Hydropower Project. In 2022, he successfully developed a 13 MW offshore wind turbine with completely independent intellectual property rights. This is a wind turbine with the largest single unit capacity and the maximum impeller diameter in Asia that has been off the assembly line in China.
