Recently, the World Journal Clout Index (WJCI) Report (2023) jointly released by Institute of Scientific and Technical Information of China, China Academic Journals (CD Edition) Electronic Publishing House, Tsinghua University Library, Wanfang Data Co., Ltd., Society of China University Journals and China Editology Society of Science Periodicals published 130 "top journals" in China in which Nano Materials Science run by Chongqing University was once listed in the "top journals".
It is reported that after strict screening, WJCI Report (2023) collected 15,555 journals, including 1,772 ones from China. It is decided that the journals with disciplines ranking TOP5% and top 3 in terms of WJCI, total citation frequency and impact factor have already formed the influence of "world-class journals" and are called "top journals". Based on this standard, the statistics show that there are 1,704 "top journals" around the world (accounting for 10.95% of source journals), among which 130 ones are from China (accounting for 0.84% of source journals).
The evaluation index published by the WJCI Report ---"World Journal Clout Index (WJCI)" is constructed by the evaluation index representing the academic influence of journals based on citation data and the evaluation index representing the social influence of journals based on Internet usage data. Hence, WJCI Report is a comprehensive journal evaluation report that reflects the world journals competing based on the same standard in two dimensions of academic influence and social influence. The report aims to establish a new journal evaluation system to comprehensively evaluate the publishing and communication services and academic influence of sci-tech journals on global scientific and technological innovation activities in modern society, objectively reflect the real contribution of emerging scientific and technological powers represented by China, and promote the fair evaluation and homogeneous and equivalent use of world sci-tech journals.
