CQU Teams up with CQA to Build the Conservation and Research Center for Mountainous Cultural Heritage

On the morning of January 11, 2024, the signing ceremony of the "Conservation and Research Center for Mountainous Cultural Heritage" between CQU and Chongqing Cultural Relics and Archaeology Research Institute (CQA) took place in Conference Room 213, Building 1, Zone A of CQU. The signing ceremony was attended by Liu Hanlong, Executive Vice President of CQU and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering; Xing Jun, Deputy Director General of Chongqing Municipal Commission of Culture and Tourism Development; Fan Lili, Director of the Commission's Cultural Relics Conservation and Archaeology Division; Bai Jiujiang, President of CQA; Zhou Daqing and Fang Gang, vice presidents of CQA; Li Yingmin, Assistant to the President of CQU; as well as heads of relevant departments and colleges/schools and representatives of researchers. Cao Huajun, President of the Institute of Scientific Research and Development of CQU, moderated the event.

Mr. Liu Hanlong made a brief introduction of the history of CQU and CQU's achievements in "double first-class" construction. He indicated that General Secretary Xi Jinping, who attaches great importance to the inheritance and conservation of historical and cultural heritage, pointed out that "Historical and cultural heritage is the DNA and bloodline of the Chinese nation, which belongs to not only this generation, but also the generations to come." CQU, as a university listed in China's "double first-class" initiative, is duty-bound to contribute to the inheritance of culture and the conservation of cultural relics. The partnership with CQA to build the Conservation and Research Center for Mountainous Cultural Heritage can bring into play the established experience and achievements of CQU, and enable further cooperation between the two sides in the areas of platform construction, scientific research, and talent cultivation.

Zhou Daqing briefed on the partnership between the two sides to build the Conservation and Research Center for Mountainous Cultural Heritage. So far, CQA has collaborated with CQU on 11 projects and completed 9 projects. These projects are revolved around the study on ancient architecture conservation, the study on restoration materials, the restoration of organic materials, the conservation of cultural relics in digital form, the flaw detection of metal cultural relics, etc., and certain successes have already been achieved. It is his expectation that the to-be-established Conservation and Research Center for Mountainous Cultural Heritage would contribute more to deepen the partnership between the two sides, further reinforce the scientific and technological innovation and technology upgrading of cultural relics conservation, put into practice the guiding principles of the 20th CPC National Congress, improve the institutional cooperation system of scientific and technological innovation, and bring in new vitality to the cultural heritage inheritance and conservation in Chongqing.

Bai Jiujiang and Li Yingmin signed the contract on behalf of the two sides.



After the signing ceremony, Xing Jun expressed his warm congratulations on the cooperation between the two sides and appreciated CQU's long-term support for the cultural heritage inheritance and conservation in Chongqing. He stated that Xi Jinping Thought on Culture is a powerful ideological tool and scientific guideline for us to do a good job in cultural heritage conservation. As Chongqing holds a solid foundation for scientific research and conservation of cultural heritage, it is hoped that the to-be-founded platform for cooperation with CQU would further bring into play its strengths.



Before the signing ceremony, Li Yingmin, Assistant to the President of CQU, accompanied the guests on a tour of the CQU History Museum.
