Recently, with the approval of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee, the Sichuan Provincial People's Government, the Ministry of Education and the General Administration of Sport of China honored a select group of collectives and individuals for their outstanding contributions at the 31st FISU World University Games Summer Chengdu, in order to recognize the advanced and set examples, and to inspire the cadres and masses to work hard for the new era in a new journey. CQU College of Physical Education and its faculty member Li Xuerui were awarded the Advanced Collective and the Advanced Individual at the 31st FISU World University Games Summer Chengdu, respectively.
The 31st FISU World University Games Summer Chengdu is the first ever international sports event held in China after the successful convening of the 20th CPC National Congress, and it is also the first time for West China to hold a large-scale comprehensive international sports event. Under the strong leadership and great support of the CQU Party Committee, the College of Physical Education spare no efforts in mobilizing all its faculty members and students to actively participate in the event, and made positive contributions to the torch relay and the organization of the event.
CQU played host to the main stage performances for the torch relay in Chongqing, and organized faculty members and students of the College of Physical Education to put on well-choreographed shows like skill cheerleading Glory and Dreams and sports dance Champion of Dreams themed on "Stories of the Twin Cities." These shows reflecting the vibrant and spirited attitude of Chinese college and university students in the new era climaxed the atmosphere of the torch relay in Chongqing.
CQU organized its faculty members and students to take part in the torch relay. Li Xuerui was involved as the 1st torchbearer of the torch relay in Chongqing, and was featured in CMG's Xinwen Lianbo, through which a successful China became evident to the world. In addition, CQU organized its faculty members and students to put on shows for the torch relay to cheer for the torchbearers.
Li Xuerui participated in the event as the coach of the badminton team of the Chinese University Sports Delegation and led the Chinese badminton team to win 4 gold medals, 3 silver medals and 1 bronze medal.
Li Xuerui said she will treasure the glory, make persistent efforts, and carry forward the great spiritual power inspired by the event held in Chengdu. She also vowed to forge ahead with determination, and shoulder new responsibilities, and make new progress along the new journey in the new era, so as to achieve new successes and make new contributions to accelerating the building of China into a powerhouse in education and sports.
