Academician Li Wenyuan Achieves Status of IEEE Life Fellow

Recently, the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) has issued the certificate of Life Fellow to Academician Li Wenyuan of the School of Electrical Engineering, Chongqing University. Academician Li is the first person in Chongqing and Chongqing University that has been given this honor. To be an IEEE Life Fellow, one has to make long-term contributions to IEEE, and age above 65, and the sum of the age and the fellowship years is more than 100. Furthermore, Academician Li Wenyuan was elected an IEEE fellow in 2002 due to his considerable contributions in power system reliability and probabilistic programming.

 IEEE is currently the largest non-profit professional technical society in the world, with more than 400,000 members from more than 160 countries. IEEE is dedicated to development and research in areas related to electrical engineering, electronics, computer engineering and science, and has formulated more than 900 industrial standards for sectors including aerospace, computer, telecommunication, biomedicine, electric power and consumer electronics. The publications of the professional branches of IEEE are the most authoritative academic journals in the world, and are the preferred choice when the scientists and experts in the electronic and electrical areas of various countries intend to publish their latest research findings.

 

Introduction to Academician Li Wenyuan

Li Wenyuan, doctor, professor, a foreign academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (2015), a fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering (2011), a fellow of Engineering Institute of Canada (2010), an IEEE fellow (2002), currently acting as the director of Power and Energy Reliability Research Center of Chongqing University; Professor Li has made creative contributions to areas including power system reliability and probabilistic programming, and has won a number of important international awards, including IEEE PES Roy Billinton power system reliability award, international PMAPS achievement award, Canadian IEEE outstanding engineer award, and Canadian IEEE power medal award. Li is a well-known expert in this area. Currently, he acts as the chairman of the Review Board of IEEE PES Roy Billinton Power Reliability Award, and the chairman of the Appraisal Board of IEEE PES Power System Planning Committee.
