CQU Signs Memorandum of Understanding with National Aviation University of Ukraine

On October 16, 2017, Vice President Liu Hanlong of Chongqing University meets with Vice President Valery Chepizhenko of National Aviation University of Ukraine, Igor Machalin, dean of the School of Astronautics, Wei Liming, president of Ukraine-China Culture and Education Development Center, and Wang Chengxi, director of the Research Institute for International Higher Education. Xu Jun, director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, Hu Ning, dean of the School of Aeronautics and Astronautics, and other workers are among the companions.

At the meeting, Liu Hanlong extends sincere welcome to the delegation. He says that the National Aviation University is the first Ukrainian university that has visited Chongqing, and this is a milestone for cooperation between the two. The formal establishment of cooperation relation with National Aviation University is in response to “the Belt and Road” Initiative. In September 2017, Vice Premier Liu Yandong of China , and Vice Premier Geluojieci of Russia pointed out at a meeting in Shenzhen that the international exchange among universities should: I. Strengthen the strategic link to serve “the Belt and Road” Initiative; II. Strengthen the complementary advantages, to build cooperation platforms particularly in areas such as aerospace, agriculture, medicine, and information technology; enhance mechanism of guarantee based on policy; IV. Encouraging the exchange of students and teachers to cultivate talents jointly; The cooperation between CQU and the National Aviation University in areas including engine, mechanics and aerospace is in accordance with the national development strategy, and at the same time with the requirements for “minority language + specialty” mode for cooperative school running substantially promoted by the Ministry of Education. It is believed that the government of China and the People’s Government of Chongqing will also provide support for cooperation between the two. Liu Hanlong expresses his hope that the two parties will find a proper position, and cooperation direction to set the stage for further cooperation with complementary advantages.

Valery Chepizhenko agrees with Liu, and he adds that the National Aviation University is an aviation university with remarkable strength, and extraordinary achievements in the aviation area. It has a complete talent cultivation system, which covers almost all specialties related to aviation, and has cultivated a great number of outstanding talents in aviation. The Antonov An series transport planes were designed by Antonov, who graduated from this University. The first talents in aviation after founding of new China , and the management experts mostly graduated from the National Aviation  University. The University is looking forward to cooperating with Chongqing University, and carrying out student and teacher exchange, joint cultivation of students (4+0 or 3+1 mode), and joint scientific research in areas such as aviation, dynamics and radio engineering.

 

When the meeting is over, the two presidents sign the CQU-National Aviation University MOU.

After the meeting, a delegation led by Valery Chepizhenko is shown around Campus A of Chongqing University by workers from the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange.

The National Aviation University, Ukraine (NAU for short), was founded in 1928, and was formerly known as Kire International Civil Airline University. It ranks the third place among the aviation universities in the world, and its collection of books on aviation ranks the world’s first place. ICAO has authorized NAU to build the only European Training Center of Experts in Aviation Safety in Europe. The graduates from the University may apply for ICAO certificate, and the certificate of seaworthiness issued by Boeing. The holders of the two certificates will be able to work for airlines with aircrafts manufactured by Boeing and Airbus. Ukraine has a total of 1,073 colleges and universities, and only 7 of them are national universities and colleges. The first president of Ukraine after its independence, Cracow, graduated from the University. The University President Babak also serves as the vice minister of the Ministry of Education. The University now has its own teaching airport. The first talents in aviation after founding of new China , and the management experts mostly graduated from the National  Aviation University.

 

As of the present, Chongqing University has signed 181 valid agreements with colleges, universities and institutions from 28 countries. It has joined the “Belt and Road” University Alliance, China-UK University Engineering Education and Research Alliance, China-Russia “Mesopotamia” University Alliance, China-Russia Alliance of Technological Universities, China-Russia Alliance of Comprehensive Universities, China-Poland Alliance of Universities, China- Central and Eastern Europe Alliance of Universities, Excellence Alliance – Alliance of Six Japanese National Universities and China-ASEAN Alliance of Technological Universities.
