Consul-general of Consulate General of Democratic Republic of Ethiopia in Chongqing visits CQU

On April 10, 2018, Professor Kebede Abera Ido, consul-general of Consulate General of Democratic Republic of Ethiopia in Chongqing visits Chongqing University, Mr. Yohannes Gebeyehu, consul attaché, and Ms. Mou Wei, assistant to the consul general, visit Chongqing University. Liu Hanlong, vice president of Chongqing University, is present at the meeting. Other persons also present, including Ye Lei, deputy director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, and related workers.

 

At the meeting, Liu Hanlong extends his sincere welcome to the guests and introduces them the profile, development history, disciplinary advantages, talent cultivation and internationalization strategy of CQU. Liu states that Chongqing University has been maintaining a favorable cooperation relation with Ethiopia . In recent years, Chongqing University has admitted a number of students from Ethiopia on a long-term or short-term program. Mr. ALEMU SIME FEYISA, the current state minister of the Ministry of Industry of Ethiopia has once studied at Chongqing  University, and is an outstanding alumnus. He also expresses his hope that there will be further cooperation with the government and the colleges and universities of Ethiopia .

Consul-general shows his gratitude for the warm reception of Chongqing University, and gives a brief introduction to the relation between Ethiopia and China, the main cooperation areas and the purpose of the visit. He emphasizes that: “We really hope that the academic communication, experience exchange and sharing of scientific research outcomes between Chongqing University and universities and colleges of Ethiopia could be carried out actively as an important part of non-government exchange, and that more and more students from Ethiopia are given the opportunity to study at Chongqing University.”

 

At the end of the meeting, the two parties exchange presents and take group photos.
