CQU-run Journal of Magnesium and Alloys ranks 5th in terms of impact factor

On June 20, 2019, Clarivate Analytics released the journal citation report of 2018. According to the report, the Journal of Magnesium and Alloys run by Chongqing University (JMA) (Elsevier, ISSN: 2213-9567) has an impact factor of 4.523 (IF: 4.523), ranking the 5th place among the 76th SCI indexed academic journals on Metallurgy and Metallurgical Engineering in the world, and is included in JCR Zone 1. This indicates that the Journal of Magnesium and Alloys has become one of the most influential academic journals on metallurgical material in the world, which is regarded as an important breakthrough made by Chongqing University in its international academic influence.

JMA was founded by National Engineering Research Center for Magnesium Alloys of Chongqing University in collaboration with Chinese Committee for Magnesium and Its Application in 2013, and is the first international academic journal specialized in magnesium and its alloy. Academician Pan Fusheng of Chongqing University serves as the editor in chief of the journal. Professor Peng Xiaodong acts as the managing associate editor. The Editorial Board is made up of well-known experts in magnesium alloy from more than 10 countries including the USA, Australia, Canada, Japan and Russia. The Editorial Department is made up of young doctors who have returned after studying abroad such as Yang Yan and Song Jiangfeng. JMA was officially included in the SCI database in December 2018 as the first engineering journal of Chongqing officially included in SCI database.

Magnesium alloy is one of the most potential light-weight materials of the 21st Century and has drawn extensive attention across the world. JMA, as the first international English journal on magnesium alloy in the world’s magnesium alloy sector, has gained great attention of Chongqing University and substantial support from the academic circles at home and abroad and KeAi since its founding. Academician Shi Changxu, a well-known material scientist of China, has written the foreword for the journal and acts as the honorary editor in chief of the journal. Since its founding in 2013, the journal has seen constant improvement in its academic quality and academic influence. In 2018, the journal obtained support of the Phase II of International Influence Promotion Project for Scientific and Technological Journals in China. According to the journal evaluation indicator CiteScore indexes released by Scopus Database under Elsevier, the CiteScore index of JMA was 4.77, ranking the 23rd place among more than 1,000 journals on material science in the world.
