The 2022 Forum for Outstanding Young Scholars at Home and Abroad (Spring) kicked off on the morning of June 18. The event was live broadcasted worldwide. Over 500 outstanding young scholars from more than 20 countries and regions, including the USA, the UK, Germany, Japan and Singapore, attended the event in person or by virtual means. Deng Shaojiang, Vice President of Chongqing University, persons in charge of human resources of each school and some teacher representatives showed up at the prime forum in person. Wang Xiaoming, Deputy Director of the Personnel Department/Director of Talent Introduction Office of Chongqing University, presided at the event.
In his speech, Deng Shaojiang extended warm welcome to scholars present at the event from all over the world, expatiated on the important opportunities and development support offered by the state government and municipal government to Chongqing University, and looked back on the achievements made by CQU in talent development in the past years. Deng said that CQU had been making all-our efforts to implement the talents developing strategy, and build the "3+7" personnel and talent system and the pyramid system for talent introduction and development that includes "4 levels and 7 categories". According to Deng, CQU is building an encouraging environment for talent development "that pleases those who are close and appeals to those who are far away", so as to attract talents of different disciplines. Deng revealed the commitment of Chongqing University to further implementing the spirit of the Talent Work Conference of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and attracting, developing, and creating talents, so as to encourage talents of different disciplines to grow rapidly and achieve something extraordinary. He sincerely invited top talents from home and abroad to join Chongqing University, give full play to their talents here and contribute to construction and development of CQU.
A video clip about the talent introduction of Chongqing and CQU was played at the Forum. It included an introduction to the current situation and overall appearance of Chongqing, as well as the history, inheritance and development of CQU, to allow the scholars present to gain an intuitive and stereoscopic understanding of Chongqing and CQU. After that, Wang Xiaoming expanded on the talent introduction and development policy of Chongqing University, and enumerated the talent demands, talent development system, talent innovation eco-environment and the pyramid system for talent introduction and development that includes "4 levels and 7 categories" of Chongqing University, with an emphasis on the "Hongshen Outstanding Scholar", "Hongshen Young Scholars", "Hongshen Young Teachers" and other talent introduction policies for young talents.
Fang Sidun from the School of Electrical Engineering, a representative of the introduced talents under the National Youth Talent Program of 2021, shared in the speech his learning and growing experience and how he got to know Chongqing University, as well as his feelings and career development after joining CQU. Fang attributed his growth to the substantial support and help of CQU and the School and said that everything was going on well and he was ready to do something. According to Fang, CQU is concentrating efforts on building an all-round platform for developing, introducing and creating talents to ensure the increasing number of young scholars of CQU make great achievements in their career at CQU. Fang expressed his expectation for more talents to join Chongqing University, adding that he is looking forward to seeing them on the campus of CQU. In the Q&A session of the Forum, Wang Xiaoming answered frequently asked questions as to difference in talent introduction positions, employment mode, career development and municipal support policy raised by scholars attending the Forum by virtual means.
After the primary forum of the University, young scholars present at the event are attending sub-forums of the schools, where they will continue the discussion by means of special report, academic discussion and one-to-one interview. The Forum is an important part of CQU's efforts to implement the spirit of the Talent Work Conference of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, and serves as a platform of high-level academic exchange for scholars at home and abroad caring for the development of Chongqing University, and provides an important opportunity for young talents to understand and have a close look at Chongqing University.
